Xbox Game Pass is Getting Its Own Samurai Action Game Next Year

MOOSA: Dirty Fate, a new samurai action game set in 17th century Korea, is coming to Xbox Game Pass when it launches next year. MOOSA: Dirty Fate was revealed during the recent Xbox Partner Preview, a 30-minute broadcast that contained an array of Xbox Game Pass-related announcements, including a Hades 2 Game Pass release date and the reveal of a new Bluey video game that’s heading to the subscription service this Fall.

MOOSA: Dirty Fate is being both developed and published by IGGYMOB, a South Korean studio likely best known for its work on the 2022 third-person shooter Gungrave G.O.R.E., a follow-up to the 2017 PSVR game Gungrave VR, which itself was a revival of the PS2 Gungrave series that was created by Red Entertainment in the early 2000s. IGGYMOB also developed Dogfighter WW2, a 40-player battle royale set in the skies above World War 2’s battlefields.

Set in 17th century Korea, MOOSA: Dirty Fate will see players assume the role of “Gunn,” a fierce warrior who’s “lost everything to vengeance,” according to the game’s official description. As Gunn, players will cut down hordes of demons disguised as humans while exploring the sprawling mountains, rivers, and villages of Joseon-era Korea, all of which have been decimated by a sudden surge of illness, famine, and climate anomalies.

Gameplay-wise, MOOSA: Dirty Fate looks to be a third-person action game with a strong emphasis on melee combat. MOOSA‘s reveal trailer features a few brief glimpses of this frenetic action, with the player-character slashing at enemies, deflecting oncoming blows, and delivering brutal, bloody finishers. MOOSA will also feature a bow weapon that seems to be used as a vessel for powerful attacks and special abilities, with the trailer teasing some kind of lightning-based ranged attack and what seems to be a parry action that has the player-character grabbing an oncoming arrow and using it as ammunition for their own ranged retaliation. Along with facing hordes of smaller enemy demons, MOOSA: Dirty Fate will feature one-on-one boss fights against towering foes inspired by Korean folklore.

MOOSA: Dirty Fate isn’t the only action game IGGYMOB has in the works right now. The South Korean studio is also working on Gungrave G.O.R.E: Blood Heat, a full remake of the aforementioned 2022 third-person shooter. This Unreal Engine 5 remake will feature new visuals, smoother animations, and all-new combat mechanics. Interestingly, Gungrave G.O.R.E: Blood Heat was also unveiled during an Xbox event, with its world premiere occurring during the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2025 broadcast last September.
