Xbox Game Pass subscribers will soon be treated to one of the best RPGs ever made, thanks to an update coming on June 2. Xbox Game Pass has its fair share of critically-acclaimed RPGs. In fact, Game of the Year winner Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was a day one release on Xbox Game Pass, giving Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers the chance to play through it in its entirety without paying anything beyond what they already do for their subscription.
While Expedition 33 was initially a Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass game, it eventually made its way to the Premium tier of the service as well. Xbox Game Pass Premium is one of the cheaper versions of the service, clocking in at $14.99 per month versus the $22.99 per month that Ultimate costs, so it getting a game the level of Expedition 33 is a big deal. Another turn-based RPG masterpiece is set to join Game Pass Premium, PC Game Pass, and Game Pass Ultimate in the near future, so genre fans should mark their calendars accordingly.

Final Fantasy 6 is Coming to Game Pass
Final Fantasy 6 will join the Ultimate, Premium, and PC tiers of Xbox Game Pass on Tuesday, June 2. More specifically, the Pixel Remaster of Final Fantasy 6 is coming to Xbox Game Pass, meaning it has some added bells and whistles like a helpful fast-forward feature that makes getting through the game a lot quicker. Even without added features, Final Fantasy 6 is often hailed as one of the absolute best RPGs ever made, and so it coming to Xbox Game Pass is great news for subscribers. If you are someone that has never played Final Fantasy 6 before, this should mark the perfect opportunity.

Final Fantasy 6 earned widespread critical acclaim for its narrative and memorable characters like the villainous Kefka, and its willingness to experiment with the FF identity. It’s classic Final Fantasy at its best, and should make an incredible addition to the Game Pass lineup. However, it’s not the only Final Fantasy on Game Pass. Xbox Game Pass has slowly been adding all the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters to its library, meaning that subscribers can experience the franchise’s pixel days in their entirety come June 2.
Previous Xbox Game Pass updates added the OG Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy 2, Final Fantasy 3, Final Fantasy 4, and Final Fantasy 5. Xbox Game Pass has been adding classic Final Fantasy games at a cadence of one per month, and it will be interesting to see if the trend continues. While there are no more Pixel Remasters to add to Game Pass, there are other Final Fantasy games on Xbox that could very well come to the service at some point.

Final Fantasy 7, Final Fantasy 8, and Final Fantasy 9 are all on Xbox. And then there’s the Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster, Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age, Final Fantasy 14, Final Fantasy 15, and Final Fantasy 16 that are also readily available on the platform. Even Final Fantasy 13 is playable on Xbox, though it being an Xbox 360 title means it’s unlikely to be added to Game Pass. Regardless, any Final Fantasy fans or those curious about the franchise can get an Xbox Game Pass subscription and play the classics for themselves.
