Ahead of its release for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, and PC on May 27, developer IO Interactive has revealed a new story trailer for 007 First Light. The highly anticipated James Bond title has been in the works for 6 years now, and the latest trailer for 007 First Light has given fans their best look yet at the action-adventure game’s story, characters, and even some action-packed gameplay.
The latest trailer for 007 First Light premiered during yesterday’s massive State of Play event, which featured worldwide reveals, major announcements, anticipated game updates, and more. As expected, PlayStation provided gamers with an update on PS5 exclusive Saros and confirmed a recent leak that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will make its way to PS Plus Extra and Premium later this month. To close the show, Santa Monica Studio announced that a highly requested remake of the original God of War trilogy was now in active development, before shadow dropping God of War: Sons of Sparta for PlayStation 5.
Upcoming Steam FPS Game Has Serious GoldenEye 007 Vibes
An upcoming first-person shooter catches the attention of retro game fans, as it feels like a spiritual successor to the legendary GoldenEye 007.
007 First Light Gets New Trailer During State of Play
Shortly after kicking off its State of Play with a sequel to Kena: Bridge of Spirits, PlayStation and IO Interactive gave fans a new look at the world of 007 First Light via a brief story trailer. Although less than 2 minutes long, the new trailer sets the stage for Bond’s first venture into the world of espionage, showcasing early glimpses of Bond’s exploits in Iceland, his decisive judgment, nerve, and resourcefulness that draw the attention of MI6, propelling him into the grueling training of the newly revived 00 programme. As First Light‘s Bond is still young and inexperienced, fans will get to experience a reckless take on the character, but one who clearly has the potential to be a world-renowned 00 agent.
The game’s latest trailer also gives fans a glimpse at the supporting characters in 007 First Light, including M, who is portrayed by Priyanga Burford, and John Greenway, portrayed by Lennie James. Greenway is a former 00 agent and the programme’s training instructor. He is a disciplined, by-the-book operative whose strict philosophy quickly clashes with Bond’s instinctive and improvisational approach in the field.
Although Bond and Greenway are starkly contrasted, the two are forced to work together to take down 009, a former British operative now turned rogue. As the pair form an unlikely duo to take down Bond’s first true test, players will be taken around the world, from the quiet Carpathian Mountains to the dangerous black market of Aleph. As seen in the trailer, Bond will encounter plenty of figures along the way, including Lenny Kravitz’s unpredictable Bawma, and the mysterious Charlotte Roth, who will be played by Noemie Nakai.
Yesterday’s State of Play trailer was the first time fans have seen more of 007 First Light following its delay last year. Before 2025 came to a close, IO Interactive confirmed that the highly anticipated title needed more time to ensure it meets expectations. As such, the studio made the decision to delay its release by two months, pushing its launch from March 27 to May 27. The good news is that IO Interactive says the game is fully playable from beginning to end, so the additional two months of development time will allow for polishing to ensure an exceptional experience later this year.
