IO Interactive revealed how the PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution on PS5 Pro further enhances the 007 First Light experience for players when it launches later this month. As the launch date for 007 First Light continues to approach, IO Interactive continues releasing new details about the title, attempting to make it too enticing for players to pass up. For those with a PS5 Pro, they’ll even see a number of big visual benefits as well.
Based on previous trailers and gameplay segments, 007 First Light is already shaping up to be an impressive-looking experience. Earlier this month, IO Interactive took things a step further by confirming all the enhancements that 007 First Light will see on the PS5 Pro console. Despite initial concerns about the game’s performance after a September 2025 showcase, IOI confirmed that it’ll be running at a very smooth 60 frames per second and even released a short gameplay clip to prove it. Even the base PS5 model will have a Performance or Quality graphics option, with the former gaining 60fps, while the latter will look slightly better but only run at 30fps instead. However, the optimal PlayStation experience will undoubtedly be on the Pro console.
007 First Light Is Fixing the Stealth Genre’s Biggest Problem With One Feature
Stealth-based games tend to share one common issue, and this special 007 First Light feature is promising to be a clever solution.
007 First Light Pushes Visual Fidelity Further With PSSR
In a new blog post, Yann Roskell, IO Interactive’s Senior Global Communication Manager, revealed all the details on how 007 First Light will be taking advantage of Sony’s updated PSSR technology. The setting will be enabled by default on the PS5 Pro version, so there’s nothing that players will need to worry about doing after booting up the game.

Utilizing PSSR, 007 First Light offers a boost to image quality, including denser foliage and more details during cinematic moments. In addition, there will be less flickering, a reduced shimmering effect, and a more stable picture during chaotic moments. Players will also likely notice that hair, fabric, and other character details will appear sharper thanks to being reconstructed by the PSSR with greater clarity. Roskell even admitted that from a development standpoint, it didn’t take a ton of work to get a great-looking result, as IO’s engineers got the tech up and running very quickly.
One of the big concerns for players was the performance level of 007 First Light, which wasn’t holding up as well as fans were hoping during the State of Play event back in September 2025. Alongside other criticisms, from the choice to focus on a car chase, to gameplay that appeared reminiscent of IO’s other major franchise, Hitman. However, throughout the past few months, the studio has seemingly allieviated these concerns through new trailers and reveals, helping to push anticipation levels even higher for many.

This isn’t the first game to take advantage of Sony’s enhanced PSSR technology, since it arrived earlier this year. Capcom’s breakout hit Pragmata also received a PSSR update post-launch, adding enhanced visual quality and resolution for players to take advantage of. In fact, many games released updates to add support for the PSSR enhancements, like Cyberpunk 2077 and ARC Raiders, joining the likes of other high-profile games taking advantage of the extra power, including Ghost of Yotei, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, and others.
