Steam Users Have 3 Free Games to Claim Completely Free of Charge

At the time of this writing, Steam users have three free games that they can add to their digital libraries, but anyone interested needs to act fast. Steam users regularly have free games they can claim for their collections, with the freebies representing a wide range of genres. For the most part, the free Steam games are lower-profile games, but free is free, and there’s no harm in claiming the games to try for yourself.

April 2026 has been particularly busy when it comes to free Steam game giveaways. There have been multiple free Steam games to claim every week, with the free offerings usually meant to promote deals, new game announcements, or demos for developers’ upcoming titles. It’s too late to claim most of the free Steam games that were given away in April 2026, but users still have time to claim at least three free games.

Steam’s Review Ratings Explained: From Mostly Negative to Overwhelmingly Positive

Steam’s user review system is one of its greatest strengths, but it can also be slightly confusing, especially for newcomers to the platform.

List of Free Steam Games Available Right Now

  • Nocturnal (until April 26 at 12:00pm CST)
  • 8AM (until April 27 at 12:00pm CST)
  • Aeonic (until April 29 at 4:00pm CST)

The free Steam games that users can claim right now are Nocturnal, 8AM, and Aeonic. Nocturnal is free until April 26, while 8AM and Aeonic are up for grabs until April 27 and April 29, respectively. Once the free giveaway window ends, anyone interested in checking these games out will have to pay full price for them. So if you’re curious about any of these free Steam games, be sure to snag them for your digital libraries ASAP.

For those unfamiliar with the games, the latest batch of Steam freebies have a lot of variety. Nocturnal is a short-but-sweet action platformer that has earned “Very Positive” ratings from Steam users, while 8AM is a creepy suspense game where players watch a family using cameras as disturbing events occur that has enjoyed a positive reception similar to Nocturnal. Aeonic, meanwhile, is a text-based adventure game that has players going from the Primal Age to the Space Age. Aeonic doesn’t have much in the way of Steam reviews yet, but you can try it for yourself without spending a dime as long as you claim it by April 29.

Beyond free games, there are other freebies that Steam users can take advantage of at the time of this writing. Age of Mythology: Retold is having a free-to-play weekend, so users can play it as much as they’d like until it reverts to a paid experience. There’s also the Sanity Skin Pack to claim for Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss, but you will need to buy the game itself to actually make use of the free content.

After PC gamers claim all the Steam freebies, they should make their way over to the Epic Games Store to snag even more free content. Until Thursday, April 30 at 10:00am CST, Doomblade is free on the Epic Games Store. Doomblade is an action-packed Metroidvania game that was first released in 2023 and earned strong reviews from critics at the time, so fans of the genre definitely shouldn’t miss the opportunity to get it for free.
