Online deals guru Wario64, who likely helped at least a few of you reading this with buying a PS5 or Switch 2, was briefly banned (and then unbanned) last night after posting a publicly accessible link to a store page for the then-unannounced Rayman Origins Enhanced.
At around 1:30 a.m. ET on June 3, Wario64 posted on Bluesky that he had received a DMCA takedown after posting a screenshot of the Rayman Origins: Enhanced Xbox store page a few days earlier alongside a link to said page ahead of the game’s official reveal. Keep in mind, Wario64 didn’t do any trickery or hacking to leak this out, nor did he break an embargo. Wario64 simply posted a link and a screenshot to a publicly available store page that went live earlier than Ubisoft planned.
Over on Wario64’s official Discord server, the fan-favorite account that often posts deals and news shared more information about the situation. He asked for help and explained that Bluesky had issued a community guidelines violation against him for posting the Rayman store page. Bluesky then deleted the Wario64 post due to a DMCA takedown. Oddly, Bluesky issued Wario64 a warning but then suspended his account anyway, which was documented by Bluesky Bans.
“Not sure what to do except reply to the email that I was given,” said Wario64. “But I’m guessing any noise on Bluesky about the suspension may speed up an appeals process AFAIK, that Xbox Store listing was public and was accessible to anyone, so I don’t really agree with the takedown, but nobody at Ubisoft asked me to take it down.”
It seems a lot of people flooded the Bluesky moderation team with angry replies, or someone involved realized they had screwed up, because within less than 30 minutes after being suspended from the social media platform, Wario64 was back, posting at around 2:00 am EST: “Well, I think that worked.”
And thus ended the dark and thankfully brief period of time when the world was without Wario64. Let’s hope it never happens again.
