KPop Demon Hunters’ First Lego Set Looks Great

KPop Demon Hunters’ First Lego Set Looks Great

After a tease earlier this year, Lego has finally revealed the first of its KPop Demon Hunters collaboration sets starring none other than the Derpy the demon tiger and Sussie the hat-wearing demon bird.

The 825-piece set will launch on August 1 and run you $70. Derpy himself has two “expressions,” one being his standard wide-eyed stare while the other has his tongue out, presenting the invitation cards that Jinu and Rumi send to one another to set up secret meetings throughout the film. Sussie, meanwhile, is a bit more straightforward, and can be perched on top of Derpy’s head. The set also includes a flower pot, which anyone who’s seen KPop Demon Hunters knows is the tiger’s worst enemy, as he accidentally knocks them over during the movie and has no thumbs to help him set them back up.

Lego says that the set is meant for both display and play, meaning kids can actually run around with the big cat for play time, and I still think that is a crazy thing to assert for something that is $70 and hundreds of pieces. That thing is going up on a shelf so high, small children will have to crane their necks to even see it, but y’all live your lives, I guess.

More KPop Demon Hunters Lego sets are planned for next year, though we don’t know what they’ll entail just yet. It’s very likely we’ll see sets based on the main Huntr/x trio, and maybe the evil boy band the Saja Boys as well. Hopefully there’ll be some minifigs in the future, because I’d buy a Rumi one to put on my shelf without a second thought.

KPop Demon Hunters is approaching its first anniversary next month, with Netflix planning to bring the movie back to theaters once more. A sequel is officially in the works, with some kind of live tour also planned in the near future.
