Adrian has been writing, critiquing, and thinking about games since he first picked up an N64 controller many years ago. These days he writes reviews, news, and features for Game Rant and believes games should be held to the same artistic standards as books, movies, and television shows. When he’s not writing for Game Rant, Adrian writes even more reviews for Sirus Gaming and likes to get nerdy about tech and retro games at HackerNoon. Outside the gaming world, he spends plenty of time enjoying movies or listening to every genre of music under the sun. Follow him on Twitter for nonsense tweets likely related to Dragon Ball Z, or check out Breadhouse Records for some tunes.
Season 3 of Overwatch is underway, and there is a new Venture Excavation Initiative Event that can grant players plenty of loot boxes if they log in and play every week this season. Overwatch is back on the upswing this year following a total rebrand and return to basics that fans have deemed important to the game’s identity.

Overwatch Change Gives Players a Better Shot at Anniversary Legendary Title
During the limited time Overwatch Anniversary Event, Blizzard reduces the grind of its challenge system, giving fans a better chance at a rare title.
As part of Overwatch’s Season 3 launch, Blizzard has launched the Venture Excavation Initiative Event, in which fans can earn a total of 17 Loot Boxes, along with 1 Epic and 1 Legendary Loot Box. Fans can earn these rewards by simply logging in to Overwatch and winning one game per day for three days in a row to complete a “dig” and earn one loot box, essentially granting players two Loot Boxes per week for the most dedicated players. For players who really want to go the extra mile, Blizzard is offering an Epic Loot Box to anyone who completes four digs this season, and a Legendary Loot Box for fans who complete six digs by the end of the season. Fans who would like to get in on the Venture Excavation Initiative Event have until the end of Overwatch‘s Season 3 on August 11, 2026 to get as many Loot Boxes as possible.
