Series creator Masashi Kishimoto is excited for the Naruto movie, specifically to see his work adapted into a Hollywood movie, and it is in pre-production at Lionsgate. It is being written and directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously directed Marvel’s Shang-Chi, so it appears to be in capable hands. That said, some fans would prefer something else new from the Naruto franchise, and it seems new video games were recently confirmed for 2027.

When asked whether Naruto‘s 25th anniversary in 2027 could represent the franchise’s peak, the company instead described it as “the beginning of a new phase.” It also confirmed that multiple new projects, including brand-new Naruto video games, are already planned for 2027 and beyond. According to the statement, fans can expect:
- Brand-new Naruto games beginning in 2027
- New “video” projects tied to the franchise (perhaps then-in-reference to the live-action movie)
- Some projects are being developed alongside new partners
