Epic Games has confirmed that Fortnite will receive an official crossover with Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. This Fortnite collaboration is set to begin on Thursday, July 16, and will see two new Odyssey-themed skins coming to the battle royale.
Announced in December 2024, The Odyssey is Christopher Nolan’s 13th feature film, and early previews and reviews are suggesting it might be his most ambitious yet. Using Homer’s epic poem as a basis, The Odyssey follows the ancient Greek general Odysseus on his perilous journey from the battle of Troy back to his home island of Ithaca. While Odysseus struggles with an assortment of mythical threats, his son Telemachus and his wife Penelope are trapped in an impossible situation at home.
Fortnite Is Adding Odyssey Skins
Fortnite is no longer a stranger to a collaboration with an R-rated movie or TV show, and The Odyssey is the next up to bat. On July 15, the official Fortnite Twitter account posted a 17-second teaser trailer with the caption: “It’s time to head home. The Odyssey comes to Fortnite later this week.” The teaser included confirms this upcoming Fortnite x Odyssey collaboration in style, with it essentially being a recreation of a handful of scenes shown in The Odyssey‘s first two trailers, with in-game models replacing the movie’s actors.

Fans get a good look at Fortnite‘s Odysseus skin in this announcement trailer, with the digital version of an armored Matt Damon being the focal point of most shots in the teaser. This trailer also features a very brief shot of the Fortnite x The Odyssey collaboration’s second in-game skin, with a hulking Agamemnon striding through a rough recreation of the walls of Troy.
In the replies to the Twitter announcement post, the Fortnite Leaks account has shared a full image of these two Fortnite x Odyssey crossover skins, and they appear to fit the game’s art style quite well. Fortnite‘s Odysseus skin captures Matt Damon’s likeness well, but adds enough cartoony detail to ensure it isn’t too grounded. Similarly, while Agamemnon’s bulky armor in The Odyssey has been a point of contention among some due to its historical inaccuracy, it translates very well to Fortnite.

A few hours after the crossover’s announcement, the Fortnite Twitter account posted its weekly teaser for the Fortnite Item Shop. Fortnite‘s Odysseus skin was shown once again, alongside an official confirmation that it’ll hit the Item Shop on Thursday, July 16. This teaser also seemed to confirm an emote that will come with the Fortnite Odysseus bundle, which sees the character bending down and placing a helmet on a makeshift grave. It’s currently unclear what else the Fortnite x Odyssey bundle could come with, though there have been rumors that it will include a loading screen. An Odyssey-themed Fortnite Cup is also rumored to start on July 16, reportedly including themed sprays and loading screens for victors.
