The upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 port of Stellar Blade has officially been rated by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) in North America, which could indicate the port’s release may not be far off. The Switch 2 version of Stellar Blade will arrive after two years of PlayStation 5 console exclusivity.
Originally released as a PS5 exclusive in April 2024, Stellar Blade is an action-RPG developed by Korean studio Shift Up. Stellar Blade was later ported to PC in June 2025, where it maintains an Overwhelmingly Positive rating on Steam. Stellar Blade was just one of 33 new Switch 2 games shown during the June 2026 Nintendo Direct, alongside games such as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake and Kingdom Hearts 4. Stellar Blade is slated to arrive on Nintendo’s latest console sometime in 2026.
Stellar Blade’s Switch 2 Port May Not Be Far
While Nintendo and Shift Up have not revealed the exact date for Stellar Blade‘s launch on Switch 2, the Entertainment Software Rating Board has already handed down its rating for the upcoming port. According to the ESRB’s official listing, Stellar Blade on Switch 2 is rated M for Mature with labels for blood and gore, language, violence, and suggestive themes. In short, the ESRB rating for Stellar Blade‘s Switch 2 port matches the PC and PlayStation 5 versions of the game. The ESRB also mentioned Stellar Blade‘s costumes and body physics as part of the reasoning behind its Mature rating. Given that ESRB ratings are usually shared for games that are facing an imminent release, Stellar Blade‘s Switch 2 port could arrive within the coming weeks.

However, one key distinction in the ESRB’s post showed the potential absence of in-game purchases on the Switch 2 port. Given that Stellar Blade has DLC content available as separate purchases, such as crossover expansions with Goddess of Victory: Nikke and NieR: Automata, it is unclear if the DLC content will be included in the Switch 2 port in any capacity. As for the features that Stellar Blade will offer on Switch 2, Nintendo and Shift Up stated that the Joy-Con 2’s gyro controls will be utilized for activities such as fishing. Plus, Stellar Blade can be played in handheld mode, though it remains to be seen what resolutions and frame rates will be achievable on the Switch 2.
As for when Stellar Blade‘s release date on the Switch 2 could be revealed, one potential opportunity is coming up later this summer. Nintendo confirmed that it will return to Gamescom in Cologne, Germany. The annual gaming expo will be held August 26 through 30 at the Koelnmesse fairgrounds. While Nintendo has not officially revealed its 2026 Gamescom plans, games such as Donkey Kong Bananza and Hollow Knight: Silksong were present on the show floor last year.
Along with the upcoming Switch 2 port of Stellar Blade, Shift Up is also working on a sequel called Stellar Blade: Blood Rain. Given that Shift Up will self-publish Stellar Blade: Blood Rain, it remains to be seen which platforms the upcoming game will be on.
