During the Zelda Nintendo Direct, two brand-new amiibo figures were announced. Both inspired by the upcoming Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, these new amiibo have unique in-game effects, granting Link new cosmetics.
Lasting around half an hour, the Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct was packed with new announcements and updates, the most exciting, of course, being a full gameplay reveal of the upcoming Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake. Along with official confirmation that the Ocarina of Time remake is launching on November 5, 2026, the recent Zelda Nintendo Direct presented a brand-new trailer for the game and showcased around 15 minutes of gameplay footage accompanied by commentary from long-time series producer Eiji Aonuma.

While the new Ocarina of Time trailer and gameplay footage undoubtedly stole the show, Nintendo also unveiled two new amiibo figures inspired by the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake. These figures, sold separately, depict the remake’s version of Young Link and Young Zelda, both of whom are posed sitting on a piece of scenery. While the Link figure is holding its hand out towards Navi, the Zelda figure is holding the eponymous ocarina.

If these new amiibo are scanned while playing the upcoming Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, they’ll grant the player a unique mask to wear in-game. These masks seem to be inspired by the more polygonal look of Link and Zelda in the original Nintendo 64 version of Ocarina of Time.
The Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo will launch sometime in 2027, meaning they’ll arrive at least a few months after the Ocarina of Time remake’s release on November 5, 2026. The official price of these new Zelda amiibo hasn’t been confirmed just yet, but if they follow in the footsteps of past Link and Zelda amiibo figures, then they should retail for around $20.
Tie-in amiibo releases have become a common feature of modern Nintendo titles. This year alone has seen a handful of Splatoon amiibo hit store shelves to coincide with the release of Splatoon Raiders and two Mario Galaxy-themed amiibo launch to tie-in with the Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 Switch ports. Even some third-party Switch 2 games have gotten tie-in amiibo releases this year, with Capcom’s Pragmata and Resident Evil Requiem both receiving figures.
In addition to the new Ocarina of Time trailer, gameplay showcase, and amiibo announcement, the latest Zelda Nintendo Direct unveiled a limited-edition Zelda 40th anniversary Nintendo Switch 2 and an accompanying Pro Controller. Both the console and the controller share a similar blue and gold color scheme, with the Triforce taking center stage in both visual designs.
