Magic: The Gathering Star Trek Products Are Being Delayed

Another Magic: The Gathering product is confirmed to be facing delays in its release schedule, with Wizards of the Coast pushing back several Star Trek products. The newest crossover arriving in Magic: The Gathering will be the game’s final major set release in 2026.

Wizards of the Coast’s flagship trading card game has seen a busy year in 2026, launching a multitude of exciting new expansions. Magic: The Gathering has already welcomed the release of six full sets throughout the course of 2026, including three in-universe sets concluding the game’s most recent story arc. Magic: The Gathering has also debuted three full Universes Beyond sets in 2026 with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Marvel Super Heroes, and The Hobbit, alongside multiple crossover Secret Lairs. Now, the final set of 2026 is being met with delays for several of its different products worldwide.

It’s Officially The End of an Era For Magic: The Gathering

Magic: The Gathering is officially ending its longest era ever after almost 20 years.

Magic: The Gathering officially confirmed multiple delays for the upcoming Star Trek crossover set, spread across several regions. North America is currently expected to be the least impacted by delays, with the new Star Trek Commander Decks arriving after the set’s full release. Europe, the Middle East, and Africa are experiencing some of the heaviest delays, with everything from Collector Boosters and Commander Decks to side products like Scene Boxes and Beam Me Up Bundles delayed. The Asia-Pacific region is seeing similar delays to the European regions, with Bundles also being delayed to arrive after the tabletop release date. Magic: The Gathering‘s Star Trek crossover is scheduled to officially release on November 13.

The delays for Magic‘s next set are nothing new for the trading card game in recent months as supply has been a repeated issue. Reality Fracture saw similar sweeping delays ahead of its official release, with everything from Collector Boosters to Commander Decks and even Play Boosters being available in limited quantities. The short supply of new releases has even caused controversy with some of Magic‘s Secret Lair releases, with Wizards of the Coast revealing that it will be bringing back its sold-out Zeta Set Secret Lair for a limited sale in early December 2026.

Magic‘s Star Trek set has already been a victim of the game’s ongoing supply issues, even more than a month ahead of its release. Wizards of the Coast confirmed in late September that it had canceled the planned Beginner’s Boxes for the Star Trek set, citing delays in production as the main reason. Leaks have also suggested that Wizards of the Coast still has another major Magic release planned for 2026 after Star Trek, reportedly planning to launch a new Spider-Man Commander Deck for the holiday season.

Wizards of the Coast’s recent production issues with Magic come as big changes are in store in 2027. The release of the first set, Nauctis: The Sunken Realm, will bring the introduction of God Packs to Magic: The Gathering, with the potential for fans to open packs containing only Rare and Mythic cards. Magic: The Gathering has also confirmed an exciting new crossover set releasing in 2027, with the Darkhold Destiny expansion featuring an original story co-created by Wizards of the Coast and Marvel. Fans can only hope that Magic‘s supply issues are remedied soon, with a plethora of exciting releases on the way.
