New Day One Xbox Game Pass Game Confirmed for June 17, But You Can Technically Play It Today

Nintendo held a special Indie World Showcase and leading off the proceedings was the unique action-platformer Denshattack, which not only revealed its release date, but news on how players can go hands on with it early. Denshattack certainly appears to be a unique experience, mixing various styles and elements together that surround its gameplay core of using trains to perform skateboard-like tricks and grinds through a near-future Japan. Previous trailers have teased all sorts of different situations, including boss battles, and now, fans can check the game out for themselves ahead of its summer launch, including on Xbox Game Pass.

Although it likely wasn’t the sort of Nintendo Direct fans were hoping for, as fans continue to wonder what the company has in store for its Switch consoles later in 2026, the Indie World Showcase arrived to show off upcoming games from independent developers. Nintendo’s latest Indie World Showcase gave fans about 15 minutes of new details for titles like Blighted, which is the latest game from Drinkbox Studios. Moonlighter 2 and highly acclaimed Blue Prince were also confirmed for the Switch 2, while Klei showed off its newest co-op action brawler called Rotwood. However, one title in particular got the event going with its unique hyperactive energy.

The Best Games On Xbox Game Pass (March 2026)

Xbox Game Pass is unquestionably worth the subscription fee, but which of the available games are the best use of your hard drive space?

Denshattack Gets a Release Date

Denshattack, a game that appears to mash together a Tony Hawk Pro Skater-style trick system with Japanese trains, led off Nintendo’s Indie World event, giving fans another look at its colorful and hyperactive, trick-filled world. Denshattack is certainly no stranger to chaos, tasking players with maintaining focus to nail tricks while also navigating the action happening around them. The trailer highlighted plenty of grinds, tricks, and absurd events that players will be experiencing, including riding a drone, pulling off moves inside a tornado, and even battling a massive sentient castle. Fans looking to jump into this world still have a bit of wait time ahead as Denshattack will finally launch on June 17, 2026, for the PC, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X, and PlayStation 5.

However, for those who may not be able to wait that long, there is some good news. Fireshine Games and Undercoders announced that a demo is now available across all platforms, including the currently ongoing Steam NEXT Fest event. In fact, Denshattack has already claimed the title as being one of the most played and enjoyed demos available on Steam NEXT Fest, so to celebrate, the studio is not only extending the demo’s availability for PC players, but holding a giveaway to reward 5 randomly chosen Discord members to win a game key at launch. The developer is also offering different train skins, including an exclusive one for signing up for the game’s newsletter and another Switch 2 in-game skin for Switch 2 owners.

It’s also worth noting that Denshattack is also launching day and date on Xbox Game Pass. The indie title was previously featured as part of the New Game Plus showcase back in January, highlighting more of the game’s Tony Hawk and Jet Set Radio chops. The stylish action game promised players would be able to fully express themselves through gameplay as well as be able to customize their train as they work to beat local gangs, win races, complete challenges, and overcome a lot of wild moments during gameplay.

Extreme sports games have been enjoying a sort of renaissance as of late, with Activision surprisingly leading the charge with modern versions of the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games. Not only that, Sega is rumored to be bringing back its beloved Jet Set Radio series with a remake of the original. Although Sega isn’t talking about the game, Jet Set Radio remake images leaked online, giving fans hope that the series would finally be returning. In the meantime, indie games like Denshattack and Bomb Rush Cyberfunk have attempted to pick up the extreme sports slack that the big studios have left behind.
