Zenless Zone Zero Reveals Two New Characters for Version 2.8

Zenless Zone Zero has officially revealed the two new characters being added to the game in the Version 2.8 update: Starlight Billy and Promeia. The urban action RPG from HoYoverse has seen a string of highly anticipated characters join the roster throughout the past few updates, including a new Void Hunter and a long-teased faction. Version 2.5 introduced Ye Shunguang as the newest member of the illustrious Void Hunters, while Zenless Zone Zero finally added the Angels of Delusion in Version 2.6. The ongoing Version 2.7 brought even more exciting characters to the game.

HoYoverse officially launched Zenless Zone Zero‘s Version 2.7 update on March 24, introducing the final member of the Angels of Delusion. Nangong Yu joined the RPG as an Ether Stun character, synergizing well with both her fellow Angels of Delusion and Anomaly DPS characters like Miyabi. Version 2.7 will also add another character to the roster with the launch of its second half, welcoming Cissia as the newest New Eridu Public Security unit. Following Version 2.7’s debut, HoYoverse has officially teased the playable characters coming in Version 2.8.

Zenless Zone Zero officially unveiled its “drip marketing” posts for the Version 2.8 update on March 27, officially introducing fans to Starlight Billy and Promeia. Promeia is set to release as the first S-Rank character available during the Version 2.8 update, joining the roster as an Ice Anomaly character at launch. The second half of the update will introduce Starlight Billy as a brand-new Physical Rupture character, being added to the game as an S-Rank version of the popular Cunning Hares starter character Billy. Zenless Zone Zero‘s Version 2.8 update is currently scheduled to launch on May 6.

The pair of new Zenless Zone Zero characters is set to be some particularly notable additions to the game’s cast. Promeia will be the fourth character introduced to the Krampus faction after the group’s introduction in Version 2.4, and is expected to play a major role in the game’s upcoming Season 3. Starlight Billy will mark the second time Zenless Zone Zero has added a new version of a pre-existing character, joining fellow Cunning Hares member Anby, who received an OBOL Squad version with Soldier 0 Anby. Starlight Billy’s status as a Rupture character will also mark the first character not from the Waifei Peninsula to use the action RPG’s newest specialty.

Zenless Zone Zero‘s upcoming Version 2.8 update will act as a precursor to the RPG’s biggest update of the year. The Version 2.8 update is expected to be followed by the launch of the RPG’s Season 3, likely adding a new district for players to explore. HoYoverse has already begun to tease multiple characters set to join the game after Season 3’s release, including Norma, Velina, and Ramiel, within the game’s newest story content. The Version 2.6 update for Zenless Zone Zero also introduced Seth’s brother, Severian, who made his first in-game appearance during the previous patch.

Zenless Zone Zero fans waiting for Version 2.8 should have plenty to keep them busy in Version 2.7. The newest update to the RPG added a brand-new cooking mini-game connected to its main event, introducing the Simmer Hot Pot restaurant. Version 2.7 also introduced a brand-new challenge for one of Zenless Zone Zero‘s permanent game modes, removing the Simulated Battle Trial’s Glory mode and adding the Tidal Wave Battle Trial. HoYoverse added a brand-new weekly boss to the game as well, debuting the Sanguine Sweeper as a powerful enemy utilizing the new Corruptive Barrier debuff. Zenless Zone Zero looks to have a big couple of months ahead as the RPG gears up for Season 3.
