LEGO is Officially Retiring the Zelda Great Deku Tree Set

LEGO is Officially Retiring the Zelda Great Deku Tree Set

LEGO is officially retiring the licensed Great Deku Tree set for The Legend of Zelda this year. The 2-in-1 Deku Tree set was not only the very first officially licensed LEGO set dedicated to The Legend of Zelda franchise, but it has also been a fan favorite ever since its announcement. With hype for the set being very high since it was first revealed, the Deku Tree set has been one of the most used sets by fans to make something entirely with its pieces.

There have been many creative builds made with LEGO’s Deku Tree set over the years, with the set originally coming out in September 2024. It was followed by another LEGO set inspired by Zelda games, specifically, one depicting the final battle in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. This set is entirely different in terms of scope and purpose from the Deku Tree, though, as it doesn’t have an official alternative build and only features 1,003 pieces, as opposed to 2,500 of the Deku Tree set.

Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Reveal Plans Leaked

A new rumor claims Nintendo may be preparing to reveal a full Ocarina of Time remake very soon, with Monolith Soft reportedly involved.

Say Goodbye to LEGO’s Deku Tree Zelda Set

The Deku Tree set is now officially part of the Last Chance to Buy page on LEGO’s website, which is dedicated to all retiring sets. Currently, there is a confirmed date for its retirement, and it’s part of the many LEGO sets retiring in 2026. Specifically, it’s one of the LEGO sets retiring on July 31, 2026. LEGO sets typically retire 18-to-36 months after their release, with the average shelf time being around two years. As such, despite its short time on store shelves, the Deku Tree set is not necessarily being retired too soon by LEGO standards, at basically 22 months.

The most likely retirement date would have been closer to the anniversary of its release, meaning in September 2026. LEGO sets retiring in 2026 confirm the pattern of going off shelves closer to big product releases. There will be a release wave this summer, as well as in the fall, around November 2026. This means that moving the Deku Tree set for retirement to Summer 2026, on July 31, less than two years since its release, makes sense when going by this logic. However, since July 31 is not exactly around the corner, there should be plenty of time to grab one on LEGO’s website or Amazon before its official goodbye.

zelda ocarina of time final battle lego set full set with box

It’s worth noting that LEGO’s Ocarina of Time Zelda set launched in March 2026, and there are no current plans or leaks regarding more sets for the IP this year. This means that the Ocarina of Time set will remain available for at least another year and a half, give or take. There are major differences between these sets, though, such as their price point. The Deku Tree set is priced at $299.99, whereas Ocarina of Time‘s Final Battle set comes at $129.99.

When comparing their price-to-piece ratio, the Deku Tree set comes at around $0.12 per piece, whereas it’s around $0.13 for Ocarina of Time. Regardless, the Deku Tree set will remain very iconic for LEGO. There have been fans who built LEGO’s Great Deku Tree with different sets, too, showing how beloved this kit really is. What follows is that it may also be re-released in the future, which is not too uncommon for licensed sets, in particular. This is not official at this stage, but it’s very plausible.
