Z-A Players Can Transfer Their Collection to Pokemon Home Soon

Pokemon Home will begin allowing players to transfer in their Pokemon from Pokemon Legends: Z-A starting on April 1. The update will arrive nearly six months after Pokemon Legends: Z-A‘s launch for the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.

Nintendo previously announced that Pokemon Legends: Z-A would get Pokemon Home support this year, and is now making good on the promise. Fans of the game have been eagerly awaiting this opportunity, as it will let them transfer their Pokemon from Pokemon Legends: Z-A and transfer them to other Pokemon games.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A Gets New Update for March 2026

A new update is available now for Pokemon Legends: Z-A on Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, apparently resolving a number of issues in the game.

Pokemon Home and Pokemon Legends: Z-A Will Finally Work Together

A new update has been announced for Pokemon Home that will add compatibility with Pokemon Legends: Z-A. The update will land on April 1 at 5pm PT/8pm ET, which will bring Pokemon Home to version 4.0. The service will undergo maintenance at this time, so players may want to wrap up any transfers prior to that or expect a small wait. Once the update is deployed, if a player’s Switch doesn’t update automatically, they can simply navigate to the app’s icon, and select the (+) or (-) button on their controller. If the version listed isn’t 4.0, players can simply click Software Update, then Via the Internet, and the update will download and install. While fans have been waiting for this day, there are some caveats as to how Pokemon Home will work with Pokemon Legends: Z-A.

To start, any Pokemon that’s transferred to Pokemon Home from Pokemon Legends: Z-A cannot be transferred to older games in the series, even if they’re inherently available in them. In the same vein, if a Pokemon is sent to Pokemon Home from an older game and then brought into Pokemon Legends: Z-A, it will no longer be able to be transferred back to older games after the fact. Lastly, only Pokemon that are available in Pokemon Legends: Z-A can be transferred into the game. A full list of all compatible Pokemon will be provided at the update’s launch.

While there are some aspects of Pokemon Home and transferring Pokemon from game to game that players want to see improved or changed, overall, the service is largely appreciated by the fandom. Being able to transfer a Pokemon to Pokemon Home ensures that even if the original game’s data is damaged or lost, any transferred Pokemon will be safe in the cloud. Considering how many Pokemon games there have been, being able to seamlessly transfer Pokemon from game to game is a big perk. This service will also be extended to Pokemon Champions.

While many Pokemon fans are now focused on Pokemon Champions and Gen 10 games Pokemon Winds and Waves, the current title isn’t done just yet. Pokemon Legends: Z-A will introduce Season 9 on the same day the Pokemon Home update launches. Players will be able to unlock a bunch of new goodies, including Mega Stones for Mega Evolving Pokemon, plus items like Seed of Mastery, Nugget, Gold Battle Cap, and Big Nugget, depending on the player’s rank.

Those who prefer a cozier experience may want to check out Pokemon Pokopia, instead. The Switch 2 game gives players a slice of life experience playing with Pokemon in a post-human world. The game is similar to Animal Crossing, with players given tasks to rebuild areas as they see fit and making the local Pokemon populations happy. Outside of Pokemon Pokopia, Pokemon GO is also still undergoing regular updates, including its own set of changes arriving on April 1. This includes the addition of Mimikyu to Pokemon GO, which players have been requesting for a very long time. Whatever direction Pokemon fans go in, there should be plenty to enjoy in the month of April for Pokemon trainers everywhere.
