PS5 Exclusive Saros Goes Gold Ahead of April Release Date

PS5 Exclusive Saros Goes Gold Ahead of April Release Date

Saros, the upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive from Returnal developer Housemarque, has officially gone gold ahead of its April 30 release date. Although not a direct sequel to Returnal, Saros is widely considered to be more of a spiritual successor. The upcoming title builds upon the core ideas and Housemarque DNA established in Returnal, but now with evolved gameplay and new features that keep the loop structure while offering a far less punishing experience.

Initially announced during a February 2025 State of Play event, Housemarque unveiled its next title via a stunning cinematic trailer featuring Soltari enforcer Arjun Devraj, played by Rahul Kohli, who is stopping at nothing to pursue answers on the shape-shifting world of Carcosa, a planet filled with dark secrets and hostile inhabitants. Although the trailer may have given off strong Returnal vibes, this is a new IP that has some stark differences from Housemarque’s critically acclaimed 2021 release. Saros is still a third-person shooter with roguelike elements, but now incorporates permanent upgrades, gear, and progression systems, making for a much more forgiving experience when dying.

If You Are Buying a PS5 for GTA 6, You Need to Do It NOW

Anyone that is planning on getting a PlayStation 5 for Grand Theft Auto 6 will want to do so now instead of waiting for the game’s launch.

Saros Won’t Be Delayed Again

Quickly becoming one of the most anticipated PlayStation 5 exclusives following its announcement, fans were left massively disappointed when Housemarque delayed Saros late last year. The studio’s next title was initially set to launch on March 20, but was pushed back to April 30, 2026. Thankfully, it looks like no further delays will occur, as Housemarque has now confirmed that Saros has officially gone gold ahead of its release later this month. For those unfamiliar with the phrase, when a game goes gold, it means the final build is complete and now approved for an official release. Housemarque will likely continue to work on a day-one patch for Saros, likely aimed at bug fixes, but the game is now officially complete, content-wise.

Although there are still a few weeks left to go until launch, those looking to reduce that time and play Saros early can pre-order the game’s deluxe edition, which comes with 48 hours of early access to the title. The deluxe edition, which is $10 more expensive than the $69.99 it costs for the standard edition, not only comes with two days of early access, but also includes three exclusive armor sets. A special Hands of Shore armor set is also available to anybody who pre-orders Saros before its April 30 release date. This applies to both the standard and deluxe editions of the game.

Fans can expect Saros to make great use of the PlayStation 5’s capabilities when it launches later this month, as a recent trailer revealed some new technical aspects pertaining to the title. As has become tradition with PS5 exclusives, Saros will use the DualSense’s adaptive triggers to give players a better feel for each of its weapons, as well as taking advantage of the console’s powerful SSD for near-instant loading times. Of course, Saros also looks to be one of the most visually stunning PlayStation 5 exclusives to date, as Housemarque’s next title will also be pushing the console’s GPU and CPU to their limits.

Saros isn’t the only big PS5 title launching in April. For those looking to fill their time over the next few weeks, one of Xbox’s biggest exclusives is finally making the jump to PS5, as Starfield, the divisive space RPG from Bethesda, is set to release on the console on April 7. Then, just a week later, on April 16, the highly anticipated Mouse: P.I. For Hire will be released, with Pragmata also arriving the very next day, on April 17. If that wasn’t enough, Tides of Tomorrow and Neverness to Everness will also be released on April 22 and April 29, respectively.
