Crimson Desert Players Find a Major Flaw with the Endgame

Crimson Desert Players Find a Major Flaw with the Endgame

Crimson Desert players have found a significant flaw with the endgame. The action-adventure title from Pearl Abyss was one of the most anticipated games of 2026, which led to huge interest from players when it was released in March. Although Crimson Desert sold 3 million copies in its first weekend, it initially received mixed reviews from players who, as they progressed through the game, encountered issues that significantly impacted the gameplay and their overall experience.

Many of the issues reported by players were directly related to the exploration of Crimson Desert‘s vast open world. Some players felt that the game’s universe got in the way of a cohesive narrative, encouraging players to take on side quests, which made it easy to lose sight of the main character Kliff’s goal. The need to invest a significant number of hours in completing missions and exploring was also the reason why fans of fast-paced gameplay had to adapt to the new playstyle. A significant portion of the gaming community also reported issues with the controls, which were later addressed by the developers themselves.

Crimson Desert New Patch Fixes One of the Game’s Most Annoying Problems

Crimson Desert developer Pearl Abyss confirms a fix is already here for one of the game’s most annoying problems.

Flaw With Crimson Desert’s Endgame

Recently, Crimson Desert players have discovered yet another issue, this time related to gameplay toward the end of the game. On the title’s dedicated subreddit, a user named GullibleTerm3909 started a thread detailing the issues they noticed after 109 hours of playing. They pointed out an issue with the playable companions in Crimson Desert, Damiane and Oongka, who, in their opinion, aren’t worth building out because by the time they reach the appropriate level, there are almost no enemies left to fight. This observation is part of a broader issue reported by GullibleTerm3909, namely the inability to engage in combat later in the game, which prevents players from fully utilizing the potential of other characters and also makes it difficult to complete challenges and enjoy the combat mechanics.

The post sparked a lively discussion among players who had also faced these issues and suggested various solutions to fix them. The author of the post suggested implementing a respawn system similar to those in Oblivion or Dragon’s Dogma, or adding permanent enemy spots to the game, like in Black Desert. Some people, on the other hand, argued that Crimson Desert would be best suited to a nemesis system designed for an open world, which would create dynamic rivals for players. Other users, however, suggested adding war mechanics to introduce a Kingdom/Invasion mode that would, among other things, allow enemies to recapture forts.

Since there are over 70 bosses in Crimson Desert, the combat system and the ability to build characters and acquire skills for them seem to be a very important part of the gameplay. Although the game developers had promised dynamic combat with the ability to switch between characters, some players felt that the solutions offered fell short of their expectations. In addition to the limited potential mentioned in the Reddit post, there are also voices from fans who believe that the playable character Damiane represents a missed opportunity to provide a more interesting character than the protagonist, Kliff.

The vast world of Crimson Desert offers players not only combat and exploration, but also a whole host of activities and side missions, which is why it takes quite a while to discover everything it has to offer. Given the wide range of player preferences, the game has been described as “not for everyone,” since on the one hand, it doesn’t fully develop the main story or the roles of other playable characters, but on the other hand, it places a strong emphasis on world-building. Crimson Desert continues to generate a lot of interest, so it remains to be seen whether any changes will be made to address endgame issues in this fantasy action-adventure game.
