Resident Evil Requiem Leak Shows Victor Gideon’s Alternate Transformation

MAJOR Spoilers for Resident Evil Requiem ahead

A new Resident Evil Requiem leak showed never-before-seen images of Dr. Victor Gideon’s final transformation. Gideon is the main antagonist in Resident Evil Requiem, and serves as the game’s final boss.

In Resident Evil lore, Gideon was a former Umbrella Corporation researcher who worked on the Tyrant project. After Umbrella shut down and Raccoon City was destroyed, he bought the Rhodes Hill Chronic Health Care Center to continue experimenting on people. He became obsessed with seeking out the Elpis Project, which was one of Spencer’s final projects before he passed. The doctor also injected himself with the Nemesis parasite, which allows him to transform into a terrifying monster in Resident Evil Requiem‘s final boss fight.

Players notice a chilling reference hidden in Resident Evil Requiem, sparking curiosity as fans connect eerie details to a familiar fantasy world.

Resident Evil Requiem Dataminers Find Unused Victor Gideon Models

While Gideon’s Nemesis form in the boss fight’s second phase brought another layer of terror in Resident Evil Requiem, dataminers have discovered that Capcom apparently once had different designs for him. The images shared by Twitter user umesooooo showed drafts of Gideon with a singular wing protruding from his shoulder for his first form, drawing comparisons to Final Fantasy 7‘s Sephiroth. The second and final mutation looked more like a chimera with snake creatures, which would have explained Gideon’s forked tongue and snakeskin coat throughout the game.

In the replies under umesooooo’s tweet, a number of Resident Evil Requiem fans expressed that they liked Gideon’s unused final transformation better because it matched his snake motif. However, there were also some who thought that transforming into a Nemesis was a better move. Meanwhile, fans also theorized that the snake transformation could be used in the upcoming Resident Evil Requiem DLC. Capcom hasn’t confirmed the final story in the DLC yet, but fans think that Gideon might make a comeback in some way.

The Resident Evil universe is still expanding, so it’s not surprising to see Capcom creating multiple designs for characters and choosing the ones that would complement the final product. The fans’ disappointment in not seeing Gideon turn into a snake monster is valid, but changes like this happen all the time. For example, Resident Evil Village‘s official concept art revealed that Ada Wong was supposed to be part of the game, but she was probably scrapped to keep the story’s focus on Ethan Winters and Chris Redfield.

Resident Evil Requiem has been a massive hit with fans and critics alike thanks to the immersive gameplay, as well as the dynamic between Grace Ashcroft and Leon S. Kennedy. It’s going to take a few more years before the tenth game comes out, but Capcom reportedly has a bunch of remakes in the pipeline. There have been reports that Capcom is allegedly working on remakes for Resident Evil Code: Veronica, Resident Evil 1, Resident Evil 0, and Resident Evil 5, but none of them have been officially announced yet.
