Crimson Desert Reveals Upcoming Content, Features, and Improvements

Pearl Abyss is giving Crimson Desert players a look at what the studio has planned for its popular open world game, from upcoming new content, to quality of life features, and continued improvements. Despite the game’s continued popularity since launch, Crimson Desert is by no means a perfect experience, as indicated by the mixed reviews from critics as well as the multitude of patches that have since released over the past few weeks.

However, these frustrations haven’t been able to slow down just how well Crimson Desert has sold to this point, reaching over 4 million copies sold worldwide in just under 2 weeks. Even with the impressive achievement, Pearl Abyss has continued to listen to fans and their feedback, using updates to continue smoothing out frustrations and other pain points, while also adding new features and content to the experience. Between making adjustments to the control scheme, adding new mounts for players to ride, and other quality of life updates, Pearl Abyss has been busy and with its latest blog post, things don’t appear to be slowing down any.

Crimson Desert Boats Are Causing Problems for Players

During the exploration of Crimson Desert’s massive open world, players are discovering that the game is causing issues with boats.

Crimson Desert Details Future Content and Updates

Three weeks after Crimson Desert‘s launch, Pearl Abyss posted a new developer update blog to lay out its plans for the game in the near future. While the developer teased new combat-focused content currently in development, the studio announced three upcoming features that should alleviate some of the recent frustrations, including from some Crimson Desert players who find the game too difficult. Pearl Abyss is not only adding difficulty settings, letting players adjust things that suit them, but it is also adding a Boss Rematch feature. In addition, liberated locations will also be attacked by enemies who are attempting to recapture them, giving even endgame level players more to do.

Another big point of contention with Crimson Desert is with Damiane and Oongka and how they don’t get the same/similar skills to Kliff in terms of Force Palm or Axiom Force. Based on feedback, Pearl Abyss is giving both new abilities similar to those abilities. In addition, new outfits are being added to allow players to further express themselves, while a new option to hide back weapons can be toggled to help not break immersion during combat. In addition, more pets and mounts are also on the way, and Pearl Abyss plans to further improve storage by adding specialized versions for Food, Gatherables, Collections, and a Wardrobe-specific option. Better yet, players will be able to directly take out items for use in crafting or tempering.

However, new features weren’t the only thing revealed in the blog post. Pearl Abyss is continuing to adjust and tweak the game’s visuals to continue pushing them forward. Specifically, Pearl Abyss is working on enhancing the realism of distant backgrounds, making them appear more detailed and clear. The post also warned that these changes could result in patch sizes being larger than expected due to the rendering improvements. The studio also highlighted upcoming UI enhancements as well, with minimum font size adjustment option being added.

The control scheme for Crimson Desert has been a constant talking point for players, with Pearl Abyss already releasing a couple of updates in an attempt to simplify them. Work isn’t done on that side of the game as the studio revealed that it is still reading through feedback and an option for customizable controller inputs is being worked on. In addition, the range of configurable keys for keyboard and mouse is also being expanded to help improve usability.
