Avatar Movie Leaks Six Months Before It’s Out

Twitter user @ImStillDissin posted a clip of what they claim is a piece of the upcoming Avatar: Aang, The Last Airbender film set to launch on Paramount+ in October that Nickelodeon “accidentally emailed” to them. That clip potentially could have been written off as an elaborate hoax showing older versions of Aang, Toph, and the rest of the original series’ crew, but it was quickly validated as authentic after it was hit with a copyright strike.

While the initial upload may have been taken down, clips of the movie are showing up pretty much everywhere now, including on TikTok, as Paramount scurries to get them taken down or users delete them to avoid getting strikes on their accounts. But if you go looking, these clips are pretty easy to find.

Obviously don’t watch them if you don’t want spoilers, but the circulating clips give us a good glimpse of new characters like out-of-time airbender Tagah, voiced by Guardians of the Galaxy and Glass Onion actor Dave Bautista, and Our Flag Means Death actor Taika Waititi’s Gorillavark. The movie is still six months out, but its animation looks pretty great. The footage also showcases the new voice actors playing the main characters, as the roles were recast to be more in-line with the racial/ethnic backgrounds of the Avatar characters.

Avatar: Aang, The Last Airbender was originally aiming for theaters before pivoting to a Paramount+ release after a series of delays.

The Avatar series is having a bit of a resurgence as of late, with the Aang movie being one of several projects in the works alongside a new series called Seven Havens, which stars an earthbender named Pavi.
