Bloodborne Movie Was "What I Was Put On This Earth To Do," Producer JackSepticEye Says

Sony Pictures recently announced an R-rated Bloodborne movie, with YouTuber and gamer Seán McLoughlin, who goes by the name JackSepticEye, is on board as a producer. He’s now discussed more of his involvement in the project and this enthusiasm for it, saying he will “put everything I have” into making it the best film it can be.

In a video, JackSepticEye said working on the Bloodborne animated movie with Sony and Lyrical Animation has “literally a dream come true for me.”

“I live and breathe FromSoftware games, but Bloodborne specifically is my top tier, highest echelon of game. I have a tattoo of the Hunter’s Mark on my body,” he added (via IGN). “Bloodborne is like the thing that I wake up and play video games for. It is the top of the top.”

He went on to say that Bloodborne is the thing in gaming that he is “most passionate about,” and he said he will put in the effort to try to help make a Bloodborne film that fans enjoy.

“I am going to pour all of my passion, my energy, and my soul into to try and make this as good as possible. I am going to fight so hard to make this amazing,” he said.

JackSepticEye also acknowledged that many were bewildered to learn of his involvement with the project, and he stressed that is a producer, but not a writer or director. Those people have not yet been announced. As a producer, he said he will do “whatever is within my power” to help guide the Bloodborne movie in the right direction.

“I will fight tooth and nail to make this thing the best it possibly can be from my standpoint. I assure you. I promise you. I’m not going into this and taking it lightly,” he said. “I know what an absolute gigantic honor it is. No one knows that better than I do. Again, I’m trying to express how much I care about this. I’m trying to express how passionate I am about it. I don’t know if it’s coming across or if it just sounds like words, but I really, really am. This is something that I’m going to pour everything I have into.”

JackSepticEye went on to say that working on the Bloodborne movie is “what I was put on this Earth to do” and getting to be a producer is the result of everything he’s worked for in his career.

“I’m very serious about filmmaking. I’m very serious about movies in general. I absolutely adore the medium and I love gaming and these are the two things that I’m most passionate about in my life. So to be able to marry them together and to be able to do something with something that I’m so passionate about as my favorite game ever made,” he said.

The Bloodborne movie is not the only adaptation in the works of a title made by From Software, as an Elden Ring film from A24 and director Alex Garland is on the way as well.

The Bloodborne movie is one of multiple upcoming gaming adaptations from Sony Pictures. Some of the others include Weapons director Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil reboot, a Helldivers movie starring Jason Momoa, and The Legend of Zelda. Outside of gaming movies from Sony Pictures, there are countless others in development, including Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat 2 this year.
