Xbox Game Pass Adds Best-Selling Game of 2019

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is now available on Xbox Game Pass, having just landed on three tiers of the service. This is the tenth title to join Microsoft’s subscription content catalog in April 2026 and the 64th Xbox Game Pass release since the beginning of the year.

Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare reboot was 2019’s best-selling game in the United States, according to NPD, now known as Circana. It also performed well in other major markets, ranking third among Europe’s best-selling games of 2019, behind only FIFA 20 and Grand Theft Auto 5. A January 2025 Game File report placed its lifetime sales at 41 million, citing court documents referencing company data from Activision executive Patrick Kelly. That would make Modern Warfare the second-best-selling entry in the franchise, trailing Black Ops 3 by about 2 million copies.

Xbox Game Pass Adds Its Sixth Call of Duty Game

The popular first-person shooter joined Xbox Game Pass on April 17 and is now available across three membership tiers, skipping only the entry-level Essential catalog. Not counting the free-to-play Warzone spin-off, this is the sixth title from the series to make its way to Microsoft’s subscription service. It’s also the first Call of Duty game addition since Black Ops 7 arrived on Xbox Game Pass in November 2025.

As with most multi-edition titles on the service, Xbox Game Pass subscribers have access to the entry-level version of Modern Warfare. Called the Digital Standard Edition, it is typically priced at $59.99 and includes two bonus multiplayer items: the Tactical Knife and XRK Weapons Pack. With this arrival, the entire Modern Warfare reboot trilogy is now available on Xbox Game Pass. The subseries may continue before long, not least because this year’s Call of Duty release is rumored to be a Modern Warfare 4 reboot, expected to arrive in October 2026.

Xbox Game Pass Has Plenty in Store for April 21

April 21 is the next date for Xbox Game Pass subscribers to circle on their calendars. It will mark the day-one arrival of Vampire Crawlers, a Vampire Survivors spin-off, together with Little Rocket Lab and Sopa: Tale of the Stolen Potato joining the Premium-tier library. The Wave 2 lineup for April 2026 is already confirmed to include eccentric pottery brawler Kiln and sci-fi adventure Aphelion, both day-one releases. The full roadmap for the rest of the month is likely to be announced on April 21 as well.

Looking beyond this month, Xbox Game Pass currently has just one confirmed game for May 2026: Forza Horizon 6, due to launch on May 19. Based on the series’ track record, the new entry could be among the most-played new additions to the service next month.
