After vehicles, weapons are the next most iconic aspect of the Grand Theft Auto series. The need for weapons in GTA‘s crime-filled sandbox has increased as the franchise has moved from gang wars to assassinations to bank heists, and Grand Theft Auto 6 has the means to take the franchise’s weapon arsenal to the next level. While only a few weapons have been confirmed for Grand Theft Auto 6 through trailers and official media screenshots, the ones that have been shown give fans a good idea of what to expect from GTA 6‘s combat.
From the trailers for GTA 6, it’s clear the streets of Vice City are anything but safe, and protagonists Jason and Lucia will need the right weapons for everything from small-scale robberies to full-blown heists. GTA 5 really paved the way for the franchise’s arsenal, giving players access to tons of military-grade gear that represents some of the best weapons in the GTA series. The weapons confirmed for GTA 6 already paint a clear picture for players hoping to see the game rival its predecessor, and there’s likely even more that haven’t been revealed yet.
Weapons are a key part of GTA Online‘s PvP combat, so there will likely be an even greater arsenal to choose from once GTA 6‘s version of Online launches.

Rockstar has primarily stuck to showing GTA 6‘s small arms and melee weapons in the pre-release content it’s shared so far. Classic GTA melee weapons like baseball bats and golf clubs are not surprising to see return, and it’s nice to see hammers and pool cues returning since the melee weapons originally debuted in GTA: Vice City and San Andreas, respectively. There is plenty of room for even more melee weapons to join this roster, given how just about any handheld object could conceivably be used as a weapon.

The Duke Arms Company has several weapons set to appear in GTA 6, such as the Mustang .357 Handgun, with the manufacturer making its series debut in this entry. Also debuting in GTA 6 is the arms manufacturer Capo, which is confirmed to have at least one pistol available in the game. The Polymer Pistol seems to be the default weapon for both Jason and Lucia, and is also shown to be used by several other NPCs, including VPD officers. Two unknown handguns based on the real-world Beretta 92FS and Bersa Thunder 380 have also been shown in GTA 6 media, but their names and manufacturers have not been confirmed.
In terms of larger arms, GTA 6 features a few confirmed weapons to date, such as the double-barreled shotgun, which has only been available in GTA: Chinatown Wars and GTA Online thus far. Duke Arms Company also has several assault rifles available in GTA 6, both being carbine variants. A submachine gun based on the Heckler & Koch MP5/40 has also been spotted being used by Lucia in the second GTA 6 trailer.
Two types of sniper rifles have been confirmed for GTA 6 via official screenshots and trailers. The first is a Bolt Action Sniper that appears to be based on a Remington 700 BDL, while the second is an assault sniper manufactured by Duke Arms Company. The Grenade Launcher is the only heavy weapon that’s officially been confirmed, and it appears to be the same one that was manufactured by Shrewsbury in GTA 5 and GTA Online.

While none of these weapons have been officially confirmed, they have been leaked to be present in GTA 6. Some of these leaked weapons seem like obvious additions to the game, such as multiple types of golf clubs to complement the mini golf club that’s already been confirmed. Other leaked weapons only have vague descriptions, such as the different types of SMGs rumored to appear, so it’s unclear whether these are new versions of existing GTA weapons or entirely different guns.

The most interesting leaked weapon is perhaps the speargun, which is said to debut as a heavy arm in GTA 6. Spearfishing off the coast of Vice City and the Leonida Keys seems like it would be an entertaining pastime in GTA 6, and then taking that Speargun and causing mayhem within Vice City itself would just be the icing on the cake. Expanding the types of throwable weapons in the Grand Theft Auto series would also be nice to see, so seeing leaked weapons like golf balls and smoke grenades alongside other grenades and Molotovs points towards a more robust arsenal of this weapon type in GTA 6.
