Battlefield 6 Confirms Planned Vehicle Improvements After Admitting They’re ‘Death Traps’ Right Now

Battlefield 6 has confirmed plans to test changes to some of the game’s vehicles, after player feedback that they felt like “death traps” to use. These Battlefield 6 changes will be tested via Battlefield Labs first, and then rolled out to the main game when the developer is happy with the balance.

After a strong launch period, Battlefield 6 has struggled with a player count problem in the months since. Even with the game’s new content, player retention has remained a major challenge for Battlefield Studios to contend with. Players just aren’t sticking around, and the lack of a player count boost following the launch of Battlefield 6 Season 2 is cause for concern. The exact reasons that the game is struggling to bring players back are unclear, although gamers have not been shy about sharing their feedback with Battlefield Studios since launch. Vehicle gameplay, a staple of the Battlefield series, has been a source of complaint for many players, and the developer is looking to address a specific element of it.

“Not Them Flexing” Call of Duty Fans Think Black Ops 7 Is Mocking Battlefield 6

Call of Duty fans believe Black Ops 7 is mocking its biggest competitor, Battlefield 6, after the EA-published shooter revealed its Season 2 roadmap.

Battlefield 6 Developer Calls Light Vehicles a ‘Death Trap’ But Tests Are On The Way

Speaking to PC Gamer, DICE hardware producer Kit Eklöf responded to feedback that Battlefield 6‘s light ground transport vehicles are far too easy to die in, and revealed plans to tackle it going forward. “I’m going to take the light vehicle feedback with me to the team from you today,” Eklöf said. “But I also want to promote that there’s a Battlefield Labs test coming up where we’re going to test some vehicle improvements around this issue, specifically because we’ve heard the feedback that vehicles are death traps. We are going to try a package of vehicle improvements on Labs very soon, so keep an eye out for that.” So not only is the developer aware of the issue, but those who take part in the Battlefield Labs test environment will be able to test the vehicle changes before they go live in-game. Unfortunately, Eklöf did not reveal the exact nature of the changes, nor did he say when Battlefield Labs players can expect to see them available to try.

The Battlefield Labs test environment was a useful tool for Battlefield Studios to gain feedback on BF6 prior to its release. It was actually available before Battlefield 6 was ever officially announced, and leaks meant that gamers quickly became aware of its existence. Following the game’s launch, Battlefield Labs was temporarily closed as the developer began gathering feedback on the live version of Battlefield 6. However, BF Studios has temporarily brought back Battlefield Labs a few times since launch, as it remains a great way to test sweeping changes without impacting the experience for most players.

…we’ve heard the feedback that vehicles are death traps. We are going to try a package of vehicle improvements on Labs very soon, so keep an eye out for that.

Battlefield 6 Season 2 launched on February 17, bringing the Extreme Measures content drop, including the Decontaminated map. The roadmap released earlier this month confirmed that there are two more chapters of Season 2 yet to come: Nightfall and Hunter/Prey. They are set to release on March 17 and April 14, respectively, bringing more maps and modes to the game. Hopefully, as the season rolls on, Battlefield Studios can find a way to make vehicle gameplay feel just as good as it does in previous games in the series. It remains to be seen whether the upcoming slate of content is enough to draw players back to the first-person shooter.
