Beast of Reincarnation Releases Major Update for August 2026

The launch of Beast of Reincarnation hasn’t gone as smoothly as fans may have hoped, though Game Freak is attempting to make major post-launch improvements with its first major update. While best known for work on Nintendo’s Pokemon franchise, Beast of Reincarnation is a big change of pace as it takes players to a post-apocalyptic Japan to fight against a corruption known as the Blight. Alongside a companion named Koo, players traverse the world, fighting against powerful creatures and gaining new abilities.

Unfortunately, these interesting new ideas didn’t seem to come together in a way that most were hoping for, as Beast of Reincarnation suffered from “lukewarm” reviews. While many have praised the visual look of the game, the other areas seemingly fall flat, with a lack of enemy variety, lackluster boss fights, and other technical issues. The game’s overall story, what many were hoping would be a high point, is also part of the disappointment, with many lamenting what it could have been. However, while the launch period has been disappointing, Game Freak is attempting to position the game for a comeback with post-launch updates.

The first post-launch update has arrived, and starts delivering on the improvements Game Freak promised for Beast of Reincarnation. Although there’s still plenty more to do, the first update begins the improvement process by fixing the camera both in and out of combat and the default cinematic cutscene setting no longer plays at 24 frames per second, though the option is still available for those that want it. The “interact” button, which has left many players frustrated due to it getting in the way at times, is now remappable, and various other bugs have also been fixed.

This update also makes changes to the game’s story pacing, adjusting some of the affinity-building conversations to happen just once per day instead of occurring multiple times in a row. The other big change comes to Beast of Reincarnation‘s disappointing combat and boss battles, which many considered a low point of the game. While it doesn’t address the variety issue, this update made balance adjustments to bosses and enemies across all difficulty levels, while Emma’s parry window when taking damage has also been adjusted.

• Various adjustments to the player camera, both in and out of combat.
  • Additional camera adjustments will be made going forward.
• Adjustments to text size throughout the game.
  • Further text size adjustments are being planned.
• Story pacing has been slightly adjusted by ensuring that some of the affinity-building conversations that could occur multiple times in a row are now limited to once per day.
  • Additional updates are being planned to further improve cutscene experience. We will share more details as soon as possible.
• The default cinematic cutscene setting has been changed from Cinematic to Performance mode. This means that cutscenes will not longer play at 24fps by default, though the option is still available.
  • Please note that if you already have this option set to Cinematic, changing it to Performance will apply this change going forward.
• Players can now change the mapping of the “interact” button in settings.
• Adjustments to the parry window when Emma is taking damage.
• Fixed a bug where, if the interact button is mapped to the square/X button, pressing it during the story event where you talk to Kagura on the Walker would incorrectly prioritize “rest until morning”, preventing you from talking to Kagura.
• Various balance adjustments to bosses across all difficulty levels.
• Various balance adjustments to enemy encounters on Normal difficulty.
• Fixed a bug causing button icon type changes to not be saved correctly.
• Fixed a bug causing upscaling settings to reset upon restarting the game.
• Fixed a bug related to V-Sync. Changing V-sync settings will no longer impact the player’s resolution settings.
• Various additional bug fixes including:
  • Fixed an issue where the 6th golem in Subcity 01 was difficult to find.
  • Fixed an issue where Emma becomes unable to interact if a Bloom Art is cancelled.
