Brand-New Dinosaur Horror Game Coming to Steam Soon

Brand-New Dinosaur Horror Game Coming to Steam Soon

Welcome to Sunnybrook is bringing a new kind of dinosaur horror to Steam this fall, casting players as a burglar whose routine break-in is interrupted by prehistoric predators. The upcoming Steam game is a single-player first-person horror experience built around exploration, stealth, and surviving without weapons.

Breaking Dimensions, in collaboration with Polygon Dust, is developing Welcome to Sunnybrook, and the two already have plenty of experience mixing dinosaurs with horror. The teams previously worked on Oakwood, which stranded players in an abandoned campground filled with prehistoric creatures, and Rip Current, which moved the concept into a flooded research facility. Both games emphasized surviving encounters with dangerous predators, giving Breaking Dimensions and Polygon Dust a fairly specific background as they head into another Steam horror game centered on dinosaurs. Welcome to Sunnybrook takes that familiar threat and puts it in a much more unique setup.

New Steam Game Is Basically Paper Mario Meets Super Metroid

A new Steam RPG mixes Paper Mario-style combat with ability-based exploration, hidden paths, puzzles, and collectible creature companions.

New Steam Game Starts With a Burglary and Ends With Dinosaurs

Interestingly, Welcome to Sunnybrook begins with a burglary rather than a dinosaur attack. Players arrive in the wealthy lakeside community of Sunnybrook hoping to take advantage of its largely empty seasonal homes, using lockpicks, safe-cracking, and security-system manipulation to steal whatever they can. Set during the 1990s, Sunnybrook initially presents itself as an ideal target, filled with luxurious properties and quiet streets. However, that changes once prehistoric predators descend on the area, turning homes, businesses, the local school, and other parts of the community into places the protagonist must navigate while searching for a way out. Instead of entering Sunnybrook prepared to survive a disaster, the protagonist of this new Steam game simply happens to be committing a burglary when everything goes catastrophically wrong.

Surviving those dinosaurs will require skills very different from robbing houses. Welcome to Sunnybrook doesn’t give players weapons to fight back, so encounters revolve around sneaking, hiding, outsmarting predators, and running when remaining unnoticed is no longer possible. That limitation could make the residential setting particularly effective. A house entered for its valuables might later become a place to hide, while windows and alternate entrances found during a burglary could provide escape routes during a pursuit. The same mechanics used to avoid alarms and residents may therefore become essential for surviving the dinosaur horror once Sunnybrook is no longer empty. So far, the developer has only uploaded a brief teaser trailer of the game.

That burglary premise may ultimately be the game’s most distinctive idea. Dinosaur horror often begins with characters knowingly entering a laboratory, island, or wilderness filled with dangerous creatures, but Welcome to Sunnybrook starts with a completely different threat in mind. The player expects to worry about locked doors, security systems, and getting caught stealing before prehistoric predators completely change the meaning of those concerns. Even the setting adds some dark humor to the concept, with wealthy vacation homes becoming a literal hunting ground, in what the developers say gives new meaning to “eat the rich.” If Breaking Dimensions can smoothly transform burglary mechanics into survival tools, Welcome to Sunnybrook could stand out from other dinosaur games on Steam without needing to reinvent the prehistoric creatures themselves.

Valve’s Steam Frame Reportedly Close to Release

Breaking Dimensions currently plans to release Welcome to Sunnybrook on PC through Steam sometime in Fall 2026, though it has not announced an exact launch date. The game will be entirely single-player, and currently lists support for Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud, and Family Sharing. Its minimum specifications call for an Intel Core i5-7600K, GTX 1070, 8GB of RAM, and 15GB of storage, while the recommended configuration moves up to an RTX 3060 Ti and 16GB of memory. Plenty of games may ask players to survive dinosaurs, but few begin by making breaking into vacation homes seem like the safest part of the night.
