A new fantasy co-op roguelite called Forsworn is officially coming to Steam on September 10, 2026, giving PC players another tactical RPG to check out next month. The upcoming release adds another title to the growing lineup of new games coming to Steam in September as fans gear up for a busy fall season.
Developed by Resummon Studios, Forsworn centers on a group of resurrected champions attempting to save a fantasy realm torn apart by a war between gods. The basic gameplay loop has players build a party and head into battle, which is where things get interesting. Like many roguelikes on PC, losing a run is part of the structure, not something players are meant to avoid indefinitely, with each defeat giving them another chance to rethink their lineup, grow stronger, and try a different approach. Heroes can pick up new abilities, items, Blessings, and other upgrades as runs progress, while Soul Shards help provide longer-term advancement. However, Forsworn‘s emphasis on managing an entire party gives it a slightly different feel from more traditional single-character roguelites.
Forsworn Brings 4-Player Tactical Co-Op to Steam This September
Forsworn launches for PC through Steam on September 10 and supports both solo play and online co-op for up to four players. Groups can work together as they push deeper into the realm, experiment with different team compositions, and coordinate their abilities against increasingly difficult enemies. Rather than having everyone simply wait for one another to finish individual turns, Forsworn is built around keeping battles moving while still leaving room for players to coordinate abilities and positioning. For those looking for a more demanding Steam co-op game, Normal and Hard difficulty options will also be available.
Much of the replayability will likely come down to how much freedom players have when putting a party together. Different heroes can be equipped with new abilities and items over the course of a run, and Ultimate Abilities charge through normal combat before being used during tougher encounters. The important part is that players are encouraged to keep changing things rather than relying on the same setup every time. For PC RPG players who enjoy tinkering with character builds and finding combinations that work better than expected, that could become one of Forsworn‘s main attractions.
Forsworn‘s mix of turn-based strategy, roguelike structure, and RPG foundations may also help distinguish it on Steam, where co-op roguelites have become increasingly common. A party-building RPG naturally lends itself to experimentation, and having multiple people making those decisions at once could make each run feel less predictable than simply following a predetermined build. How well that translates into long-term replayability will ultimately depend on the variety of the full game’s encounters and upgrades, but the setup gives Forsworn a clear angle among the many multiplayer games on Steam competing for attention.
Curious players don’t have to wait until September to see whether the combat clicks with them. A free Forsworn demo featuring the first act is already available on Steam, offering an early look at its party-building, co-op, and run-based progression. The full PC version is also available to wishlist ahead of its September 10 launch. For anyone browsing upcoming Steam games and looking for something that sits somewhere between a turn-based tactical RPG and a multiplayer roguelite, Forsworn may be worth trying before release.
