Remedy Entertainment’s reality-warping sci-fi shooter Control has reportedly surpassed another sales milestone. Originally released in 2019, Control has seen a recent surge in interest due to Remedy’s other recent and upcoming gaming projects.
Control was praised upon its release for being one of gaming’s most unique and exciting third-person shooters of the modern era. Set primarily within the confines of The Oldest House, a mysterious and supernatural office building that houses an organization known as the Federal Bureau of Control, the game centers around Jesse Faden, who arrives at the facility in search of her brother Dylan. Jesse is armed with one of the bureau’s service weapons, a transforming firearm that can shape shift into whatever gun Jesse needs for the specific occasion. Jesse also wields mysterious powers, including telekinesis, movement-based abilities, and even a limited set of mind-controlling powers. Players use these tools to explore the depths of The Oldest House, hoping to uncover its mysteries and rescue her brother.

Remedy Entertainment unveils a new console update for Control: Ultimate Edition, introducing some important enhancements for the fanbase.
Remedy Entertainment Announces Control Has Surpassed 6 Million Units Sold
Remedy Entertainment has revealed that sales of Control have overcome another milestone, with the game selling over 6 million units within its lifetime. The announcement comes from Remedy’s latest financial report, which also reports positive sales numbers and revenue for the developer’s other available titles, such as Alan Wake 2 and FBC: Firebreak. The game’s success is largely attributed to Remedy’s recently revealed sequel, Control Resonant, as well as Control’s frequent discounts and its status as an easy entry point into the company’s library of games.
Control Resonant is one of 2026’s most anticipated titles, with the blockbuster sequel undoubtedly sparking a renewed interest in the original Control since its announcement in 2025. Starring Jesse’s lost brother Dylan Faden, the game appears to serve as a major tonal shift when compared to the first title, with early gameplay showcasing outdoor locations and a variety of melee-focused weapons. The game also appears to utilize gravity-shifting mechanics, with enemies spawning on the sides of buildings as Dylan shifts his perspective and positioning around between areas.
Another factor in Control’s recent sales numbers is the popularity of Alan Wake 2, which Remedy released in 2023 to rave reviews. Though the writing-based thriller plays significantly differently to what fans have come to expect from the Control games, Control Resonant and Alan Wake 2 are deeply connected, with the latter title having potentially helped to set up the sequel’s existence via extensive in-game references and Easter eggs. Fans looking into getting the most out of Remedy’s shared universe will undoubtedly want to give both titles a play, and their widespread praise is even more incentive for new fans to check them out.

Remedy also launched a multiplayer spin-off set within Control’s universe, and while FBC: Outbreak’s review scores may be much lower than those of Control or Alan Wake games, the title’s dedicated base of players may find themselves interested in other titles set within the same bizarre world. The synergy between Remedy Entertainment’s IP should keep fans revisiting Control’s unsettling setting for many years to come as they try to piece together what comes next.
