CD Projekt Red is raising the Cyberpunk 2077 minimum PC system requirements yet again, this time in order to end support for Windows 10. Players who are unable to upgrade to the latest version of Microsoft’s operating system still have several options if they want to continue playing Cyberpunk 2077 on Windows 10.
CDPR previously raised the minimum system requirements for its open-world RPG on two occasions: in February 2022 and September 2023. The former change discontinued support for Windows 7, while the latter involved a more comprehensive overhaul affecting storage, RAM, CPU, and VRAM hardware requirements for Cyberpunk 2077.

CDPR No Longer Testing Cyberpunk 2077 on Windows 10
The latest change to the dystopian RPG’s PC system requirements was quietly announced on CDPR’s Cyberpunk 2077 support pages in late May 2026. According to the developer’s official notice, Windows 11 is the minimum required OS version for the game following Microsoft’s end of support for Windows 10. While the notice uses the original end-of-life date of October 14, 2025, Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU) will officially be available until October 13, 2026. Regardless, CDPR will no longer be testing future Cyberpunk 2077 updates on Windows 10.

The newly confirmed change creates an unusual situation, potentially leaving millions of devices that meet the minimum and even recommended hardware requirements for Cyberpunk 2077 unable to run it because their hardware is incompatible with Windows 11. The scenario largely stems from Microsoft’s latest operating system having strict requirements for supported processors, mandating the inclusion of the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0 security microchip and Secure Boot. Many high-end PCs built in the late 2010s and early 2020s will fail this check.
PC players who meet Cyberpunk 2077‘s original system requirements but are unable to upgrade their machines to Windows 11 have two options moving forward: downgrade to an older game version or take no action and hope future versions continue to run. CDPR did not state outright that future versions of the RPG will not work on Windows 10, only that it will no longer test them on the now-discontinued operating system. An identical provision was attached to the minimum system requirements for The Witcher 3, which were also revised following the May 27 announcement of the Songs of the Past expansion.
Since 2023, CDPR has repeatedly signaled that it was finished updating Cyberpunk 2077, only to later change course. The latest change to the game’s minimum requirements suggests the studio may be preparing to do so again. While making Windows 11 mandatory could lock millions of players out of the game, the requirement itself is not especially surprising at a time when Windows 10 has not been the dominant operating system for nearly a year.
