It sounds like we won’t have to wait much longer to visit Night City once more, as Cyberpunk Edgerunners’ second season is officially coming to Netflix on October 20. To whet your appetite, Netflix and Studio Trigger have released a new trailer, and I’d say the dystopian metropolis has seen better days, but then, most days in Night City are colored in the same violence and heartache we see in the new clip.

Edgerunners 2 follows a new cast separate from the ones we met in the original anime, including protagonist Roman, a young boy shown capturing the horrors of Night City on his camera. The season begins with Roman seeing and recording something he shouldn’t have been exposed to, and that’s only the start of Edgerunners 2’s 10-episode tragedy.

Kotaku saw the first episode of the series at Anime Expo in July, and James Galizio described it as having more of a “down-to-earth” story than the first season.

Edgerunners didn’t shy away from showing how Night City chews people up and spits them out, but there was a romanticism to David Martinez’s rise to fame. During the Anime Expo 2026 premiere of the first episode of the second season, CD Projekt wanted to make one thing clear: if season 1 was a Michael Bay movie, they were aiming for Martin Scorsese with season 2. It’s not a roller coaster ride, but rather a more down-to-earth take on the world of Night City and the people who live there. As far as the RPG studio is concerned, the idea is to think of Edgerunners as bringing individual Cyberpunk tabletop campaigns to life on the screen, rather than building up a single connected narrative.

The series will give fans something to chew on for a bit, as it still sounds like Cyberpunk 2 is years away at this point.
