Despite being Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred‘s brand-new class, Warlock players are running into issues with being kicked from co-op parties. Diablo 4‘s party system allows players to team up to tackle content like dungeons, Helltides, and the Dark Citadel. Completing this content with a party can make it significantly easier, assuming that players can actually see what they are doing while grouped up in co-op.
Co-op support for War Plans doesn’t exist currently in Diablo 4, but there are plans to implement it for next season.
Although the class may not be at the top of the meta in Diablo 4 Season 13, with Barbarians and Sorcerers holding down the top spots, the Warlock is far from weak. Being able to summon demons and cast sigils can greatly help in relieving some of the pressure from party members when playing in co-op, drawing aggro from enemies, and giving teammates room to catch their breath. However, the Warlock’s best build in Diablo 4 Season 13 is somewhat of a double-edged sword, as it seems to be the source of player complaints when teaming up with the class.
Diablo 4 Season 13 Nerfs One Class Too Hard
What was once one of the best classes in past Diablo 4 seasons has seen a serious nerf in Season 13, and it comes at the most unfortunate time.
Warlock Players Are Being Kicked from Co-op Parties in Diablo 4
In a post from Reddit user Thegirisan, the user laments being kicked from parties for playing Warlock, going on to say that they don’t blame other players for doing so. The reason the Warlock has become somewhat of a black sheep among Diablo 4 players is due to the heavy screen clutter the class creates when using its abilities. Between the multiple summoned demons the Warlock can have active at any time and the constant flashing from casting the Warlock’s Apocalypse Ultimate Skill, being in a party with the class can get rough on the eyes and make it harder for players to see what they’re doing in the heat of combat.

Other users commented on Thegirisan’s post by sharing similar stories, with several commenters noting that they even switched off from playing Warlock and started a new build on a different class just to avoid having to deal with the Warlock’s screen clutter. One user suggested that Diablo 4 could implement the option to turn off attack animations for other players, so teammates stuck in a party don’t have to worry about being distracted by other players’ animations.
Another commenter even suggested allowing players to toggle essentially a “single-player only” mode to remove the risk of running into Warlocks outside a party, since their PC would often crash due to the heavy animation workload when multiple Warlocks were playing together in a Helltide. In a separate Reddit post, user PartyLack4459 showcases just how cumbersome the Apocalypse Warlock’s animations can be, especially when using multiple skills at once. This video shows the Warlock casting Apocalypse while multiple Umbral Chains are spinning around enemies, and Dark Prison with the Chain Aura upgrade keeps a constant outline surrounding the Warlock.
The visual clutter associated with the Warlock, combined with the new class’s less-than-top-tier performance, has been turning many Diablo 4 players off from it in Season 13. For players who aren’t interested in party play and want to avoid seeing too many other Warlock players in the overworld, they can turn off Diablo 4‘s crossplay to try and reduce the number of players they are interacting with.
