Blizzard has released a small hotfix update for Diablo 4, which resolves one of the most annoying problems introduced in the new Lord of Hatred expansion. While Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred is still brand-new, Blizzard has been quick to address some of the problems players have been experiencing with the expansion.
Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred is the long-awaited conclusion to the Age of Hatred arc, which has been running since the game’s initial release in 2023. Reviews for the new Diablo 4 expansion have been broadly positive, with the two new classes, the Paladin and Warlock, coming in for particular praise. It has been over a year and a half since the last Diablo 4 expansion, so Blizzard has made players wait a decent chunk of time with only seasonal content in between. Luckily, it seems the developer has stuck the landing with the expansion.

Diablo 4 Update Fixes Accidental Pit and Tower Portal Misclicks
The latest Diablo 4 patch notes for Hotfix 4 were revealed by Blizzard, bringing the game up to version 3.0.1. While it’s only a very small update, it brings an important fix for an issue that was causing players in the Tower and Pit to miss out on loot and Glyph upgrades. In the initial Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred patch notes, Blizzard added a portal that would automatically spawn after players finished their Tower and Pit runs. This portal took players out of the area, offering a quick way to leave the minigame. The problem is that once players leave, they cannot return to pick up any missed loot. The portal was spawning in areas where players were accidentally clicking it, immediately leaving the area before they were able to pick up their loot and upgrade their Glyphs after a Pit return. To address this, Blizzard has removed the portal entirely, claiming that “Our intention with adding this portal was for QoL, but it missed the mark.”
The hotfix also includes some small fixes for various issues, including one where “Nemesis boss lairs could be infinitely farmed by grouping up with other players and swapping difficulties.” Any players who found themselves unable to progress during The Soil, The Seed, The Fruit due to a softlock bug are in luck, too, as Blizzard claims that this issue has been resolved.
It has only been a few days since the launch of Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred, but it’s good to see Blizzard being so quick with its early fixes for any issues in the game. The developer certainly isn’t resting on its laurels, even with the expansion’s success. Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred makes tons of small changes, and it’s inevitable that a few of them could miss the mark, just like this portal change did initially. Even still, players are safe in the knowledge that Blizzard is listening to the community and acting accordingly.

It’s an exciting time to be a Diablo 4 fan. The massive amount of content added in Lord of Hatred is game-changing, and it feels as though the game has never been in a better place. Recent seasons of the action RPG have been very well-received by players, and it finally seems that Blizzard has its finger on the pulse of what the community wants. The studio also recently launched a new Diablo 4 x World of Warcraft crossover, with awesome cosmetics for players to pick up from the in-game store. It’s going to be exciting to see what seasonal mechanics come next.
