Following the important PC performance update, Arc System Works releases another major update for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls which continues to make quality of life improvements and other adjustments. While seeing plenty of excitement during preloaunch character reveals and even during the Open Beta, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls hasn’t had a flawless launch, especially for PC players, though new updates continue to launch aiming to fix the issues.
After seeing plenty of feedback and frustration, which even led to a review bombing campaign on Steam, Arc System Works has begun to address the performance issues currently plaguing the game. Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls received its first post-launch update back on August 10, with most of the patch notes highlighting various PC performance problems being addressed in some capacity. This included fixing frame rate drops, CPU load usage spikes, sudden performance drops, and plenty more. While not fully fixing the game on PC, many players noted a much better overall experience.
The latest update for Marvel Tokon is a bit more balanced in terms of what it offers. For PC players, this update continues to make improvements to performance, attempting to address sudden heavy processing loads during matches. In addition, PS5 players will note that a couple of frustrating issues have now been resolved, including a bug that reset various settings when restarting the game. Badge progress on the battle result screen is now saved correctly.
The update also makes a number of gameplay-related tweaks as well. A number of bugs have been addressed within this update, including issues with calling an assist not working after switching characters, camera positioning problems, as well as an issue when using Champion’s Cosmic Smash and unintended follow-up attacks. Certain character lessons have also been tweaked slightly, including Green Goblin’s Mission 1 and 5 requirements. Marvel Tokon‘s Deadpool has also seen a number of character lesson adjustments, including closing a loophole that allowed players to clear a mission by landing a Foot Dive after a grounded Death From Above.

As ArcSys works to stabilize the experience for players, fans continue to wonder what’s next for the game now that it is readily available. Phoenix Cyclops was previously revealed as the first DLC character, but dataminers have recently uncovered what they believe to be additional future content. The initial leak included 8 potential Marvel Tokon DLC characters, including some fan favorites like Gambit, Daredevil, and the entire Fantastic Four. Considering that Marvel Tokon is a 4v4 fighter at its core, the 8 heroes could be placed nicely into 2 teams, even if the non-Fantastic Four characters don’t really seem to have an obvious way they fit together.
However, it’s also worth remembering that even if characters are discovered in the game’s files, it doesn’t mean they’re likely to appear sooner than later. Marvel Tokon dataminers also discovered Rocket Raccoon and a Battle Pass feature, offering even more potential content down the road. Arc System Works should be familiar with Battle Passes at this point as Guilty Gear Strive recently added them as part of the big Season 5 update. In terms of characters, it’s harder to say when they could arrive, if ever, as ArcSys has been known to feature future content in its files. For example, Guilty Gear Strive fans found Jam mentioned in the files closer to launch, but wasn’t actually made playable until many years later at the launch of Season 5.
