Final Fantasy 14 Players Are Not Happy With The Jollibee Collab

Final Fantasy 14 Players Are Not Happy With The Jollibee Collab

The Final Fantasy 14 collaboration with Jollibee is off to a rocky start, as users stated on social media that the item codes that came with their Jollibee food orders were rejected, which has led to frustration and confusion. As of this writing, neither Jollibee nor Final Fantasy 14 has commented on the reported item code issues.

The Final Fantasy 14 collaboration with Jollibee was announced on April 17, during the final segment of Letter From the Producer Live Part 92. Final Fantasy 14 producer and director Naoki Yoshida said that customers in the US and Canada can visit any participating Jollibee location and order specially marked meals to claim an item code for the “Eat Chicken” emote. While the Eat Chicken emote was previously available in a past collaboration between Final Fantasy 14 and KFC Japan, the Jollibee collab is the first time that users outside Japan can claim it.

Final Fantasy 14 Is Making a Big Change For Two Jobs

Final Fantasy 14 announces that two specific Jobs will undergo a major change that players should bear in mind going into the next update.

Final Fantasy 14 Players Raise Concerns Over The Jollibee Collaboration

Although the Final Fantasy 14 x Jollibee collaboration is now underway, the crossover has already run afoul of some customers. On the Final Fantasy 14 subreddit, players have posted warnings that the item codes that came with their Jollibee meal orders did not work as intended. Two separate Reddit posts by users named Jayarr916 and UnplayableArea included screenshots of an email that showed their item code submissions were rejected. Other users chimed in with similar stories and claimed that entering their receipt numbers from Jollibee also resulted in a similar rejection email from Jollibee. Users who purchased merchandise from the Final Fantasy 14 x Jollibee collaboration via Complex saw mixed results. While a few orders saw successful item code deliveries after entering the receipt code into Jollibee’s system, others received similar rejection emails as those who went to a Jollibee location.

As of this writing, Square Enix and Jollibee have not commented on the ongoing item code situation, though users can contact Jollibee’s customer support and provide feedback. Some users said that the Jollibee collaboration is not the first time that Final Fantasy 14 came under fire over an emote. In late 2021, shortly after the launch of the Endwalker expansion, Final Fantasy 14 had a collaboration with Grubhub that saw the “Eat Pizza” emote enclosed with Grubhub orders in limited quantities. Due to the scarcity of the Eat Pizza emote at the time, Final Fantasy 14 players made their frustrations known on the game’s official forums and on social media. The controversial Eat Pizza emote was added to the Final Fantasy 14 Online Store in late 2023 and is currently priced at $7 before taxes and fees are applied. Given that the Eat Pizza emote eventually launched on the Final Fantasy 14 Online Store, it is plausible that the Eat Chicken emote may follow suit.

GameRant was able to secure an item code for the Eat Chicken emote via a Jollibee merchandise order on Complex’s website. The item code email took approximately one hour to arrive via email, though Square Enix stated that item codes could take up to 24 to 48 hours to arrive. Users are encouraged to contact customer support if the 48-hour window passes with no item code email. Additionally, users have until November 30, 2026, to redeem an eligible receipt in exchange for an Eat Chicken item code.

Final Fantasy 14 Has a Busy Schedule Ahead

The Jollibee collaboration is just part of a busy 2026 for Square Enix and the Final Fantasy 14 development team. Final Fantasy 14 will host the Anaheim FanFest on April 24 and 25, where the game’s next expansion is expected to be revealed. As part of an ongoing FanFest marketing push, Final Fantasy 14 launched some items inspired by Final Fantasy 7 on the FF14 Online Store, including the Hardy-Daytona mount and the Wind-up Red XII minion.

With Final Fantasy 14 gearing up to launch Patch 7.5 in late April, the Jollibee collaboration will run until May 31. Although it is possible that the Eat Chicken emote could eventually launch on FF14‘s Online Store at a later date, time will tell if that will be the case.
