Forza Horizon 6 Players Can Claim a Free Car For a Limited-Time

In response to an exploit discovered in The Eliminator game mode for Forza Horizon 6, Playground Games is gifting all players a McLaren supercar for free. Despite not releasing on the PlayStation 5 yet, Forza Horizon 6 has quickly become another big hit for Playground Games, likely due to players highly anticipating the game’s take on the Japanese landscape.

However, despite the hot start, Playground Games has been quick to set player expectations for the future of the game. Alongside multiple updates, Forza Horizon 6 has teased its upcoming content and other game improvements. This has included tweaks to the Drivatar AI, including the infamous Bowie_knife99, which many have called a menace during the first week of the game’s release. Alongside continued improvements to the core experience, Playground Games has confirmed a steady stream of DLC, including July’s Italian Passion Car Pack as well as two big expansions and the eventual release of the PS5 version of Forza Horizon 6 later this year.

The Eliminator returned to Forza Horizon 6 from previous entries, giving players a battle royale-like experience through racing. The multiplayer mode tasks players with driving different levels of vehicles through a portion of the map, with the losing player being eliminated from the race. However, players recently discovered an exploit that allowed some players to essentially farm credits, racking up billions of in-game currency. Naturally, this threw the game’s economy way out of whack and forced Playground Games to remove the mode entirely while it worked on a fix.

While fans wait for the Eliminator to return to Forza Horizon 6‘s online suite of game modes, Playground Games also announced a reward for the trouble. As a gesture of goodwill towards its community, all players will be receiving the 2021 McLaren Sabre alongside the hotfix to close the credits exploit. Once live in-game, players can redeem the vehicle from the in-game message center under the Gifts tab of the menu. In addition, those who utilized the exploit are seeing their accounts rolled back to a maximum of 10 million credits as Playground Games indicates that the error was on their side, so it won’t be punishing players for taking advantage.

While the Eliminator exploit wasn’t ideal, it hasn’t been the biggest issue with Forza Horizon 6 to this point. Unfortunately, some players have run into a nasty save data corruption in Forza Horizon 6, completely wiping their save states and game progression. Players have been very vocal about this issue and Playground has responded with an initial wave of fixes, while also offering tips and workarounds for the time being while a more permanent update is applied. It isn’t the first time this series has seen a saving-related problem, as Forza Horizon 5 also had a problem with cloud saving, though it wasn’t quite as bad as this one.

While the issues don’t appear to be halting Forza Horizon 6‘s momentum by any means, Playground Games will have some competition on its hands later this year. With Ubisoft’s Crew franchise also expected to reveal a new entry sooner or later, a new Forza Horizon-killer is lurking just down the road from Playground Games. Former Codemasters producer and co-founder of Playground Games Gavin Raeburn recently revealed his new studio is working on a game that will push the open world racing genre forward and innovate with new ideas.
