As you are likely aware, later this year, there is a potentially massive video game release pile-up happening in the months before Grand Theft Auto 6 arrives in November. It was always unlikely that all of the games that were aiming to launch in that time period would actually do so. And now we have our first delay, with Valor Mortis leaving September and moving to…the equally crowded month of October. Hmmm.
On June 11, the official Valor Mortis social media account announced that due to a “stacked” September, the people behind the game have decided to delay the launch of the first-person action game to October 13.
“September has become absolutely stacked with incredible-looking games,” said the studio on Twitter. “We knew this was a possibility, but when you’re in a Partner Showcase as we were, dates get locked weeks in advance. We want to give Valor Mortis (and your wallet) some room to breathe. Therefore, we’ve decided to move our release date to October 13th.”
In a follow-up post, the team shared a gif of Valor Mortis depicting someone getting attacked and killed and added: “Live footage of us trying to find a clear release date in Fall 2026.” It’s rough out there, people.
The studio also mentioned that Valor Mortis, a historical soulslike involving zombie-like monsters and Napoleon, now has a demo on Steam that you can try out ahead of the new release date in October. But uh, folks, October ain’t much better.

That’s still a giant mess. But hopefully for the Valor Mortis team and others, some of these games also blink and decide to leave October and launch later in the year or even next year. Be prepared for more delays and release-date musical chairs as we get closer to GTA 6, and publishers realize the mess they are about to enter.
