Genshin Impact Next Update And Banners – Everything We Know About Version 6.4 And 6.5

Want to know when the next Genshin Impact update is? Sticking with a regular six-week schedule, we rarely need to wait for the next livestream to know when a new version is releasing, but livestreams give us more than just a release date, as they’re also a great source of official banner and event information.

Each new update for Genshin Impact brings new banners to pull on, events to take part in, and there’s usually a main storyline or character quest to sink hours of our time into as well. Not to mention all the updates we get for Miliastra Wonderland, Genius Invokation TCG, and more. The current update is version 6.4 (Luna V), the next will be version 6.5 (Luna VI), and this page explains everything we know about both the current and next updates in Genshin Impact.

When is the next Genshin Impact update?

The next Genshin Impact update will be on Wednesday, April 8 if it sticks with the usual six-week update schedule. This will be version 6.5 (Luna VI). Although this date is technically guesswork for now, it’s highly likely Genshin will update on this day, as not much gets in the way of its regular updates. However, for official confirmation, we’ll just have to wait until the version 6.5 livestream.

When is the next Genshin Impact livestream?

The next Genshin Impact livestream will be on Friday, March 27 if the usual six-week schedule is maintained. This will be the livestream detailing all of the banners and events for version 6.5 (Luna VI). Although it’s likely Genshin will stick to this date, livestreams are more prone to delays than proper updates, with things like national Chinese holidays or sensitive dates pushing the stream back to Sundays, or even the next Friday in some cases.

We should officially know by Tuesday, March 24 what date and time the version 6.5 livestream will air at.

Genshin Impact 6.4 banners

In Phase 1 of version 6.4, the Genshin Impact banners are Varka and Flins, with their banners running from February 25 to March 17. The four-star characters on both of their banners are:

  • Bennett
  • Xiangling
  • Sucrose

The Chronicled Wish banner also returns for the duration of Phase 1, and it features a bunch of Mondstadt characters and weapons. The five-star characters of the Chronicled Wish banner are:

  • Albedo
  • Diluc
  • Eula
  • Jean
  • Klee
  • Mona

The five-star weapons on the Chronicled Wish banner are:

  • Aquila Favonia (sword)
  • Elegy for the End (bow)
  • Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds (catalyst)
  • Song of Broken Pines (claymore)
  • Skyward Atlas (catalyst)
  • Skyward Blade (sword)
  • Skyward Harp (bow)
  • Skyward Pride (claymore)
  • Skyward Spine (polearm)
  • Wolf’s Gravestone (claymore)

Then in Phase 2 of version 6.4, the Genshin Impact banners are Skirk and Escoffier, with their banners running from March 17 to April 7, if sticking to Genshin’s reliable three-week banner Phase rule. This has only been disrupted a handful of times, so it’s highly likely Skirk and Escoffier will stick around for three weeks. The four-star characters on their banners will be revealed closer to the start of their runtime.

Genshin Impact 6.4 events

As well as the Overflowing Abundance double-drop event, there are three events in the current version 6.4 of Genshin Impact.

Homeward, He Who Caught the Wind

This is the main, voiced event of version 6.4, and apart from its overarching story plot, there are four types of mini-games to take part in:

  • A photography task to test your spot the difference skills. You have to snap a photo when you come across a discrepancy in Mondstadt, such as Liben behind the Adventurer Guild’s desk instead of Katheryne.
  • You take over a drink stand and make beverages for different guest star characters, such as Lisa and Emilie. It seems to be a lot like the drink mixing events you see in Honkai: Star Rail, only with more talking.
  • A gliding challenge featuring Amber and Eija. There will be multiple perspective changes during the flights, so you need to shoot and dodge in a variety of ways throughout the challenge. Hope you’ve been brushing up on your shoot ’em up skills lately!
  • A standard combat challenge featuring trial characters. The higher your combat score, the more rewards you get.

As well as the usual rewards like Primogems and character and weapon level-up materials, you can earn the Phantasmal Gift: Star Omen cosmetic for taking part in this event. This is a skin that you can apply to any catalyst weapon, and it resembles a little crystal ball with a witches hat adorning it.

Sightseeing With Friends

A photography event where you team up with everyone’s favorite talking mushroom, Bongo-Head, to fill in pictures across several nations, including Sumeru, Natlan, and Fontaine. There’s also a special ‘Photo Tour’ mode where you have to take photos on the rails in a very Pokemon Snap-style setup.

Operation Stronghold Defense

A strategic tower defense mini-game where you have to deploy mechanisms to fight off waves of enemies. You can upgrade and combine the mechanisms to create a variety of powerful (and fun-looking) effects.

What is new in version 6.4?

The Genshin Impact 6.4 update includes:

  • Varka’s first Story Quest (extra rewards for completing in version 6.4)
  • Unique Varka interactions with some Local Legends
  • Weapon skin for Varka if he completes the Local Legends challenge
  • Radiant Moongeecko, a new boss in Nod-Krai
  • More Travelers’ Tales: Friendship anecdotes, featuring Yoimiya, Aino, Ineffa, and Varka
  • Music added to Repertoire of Myriad Melodies
  • New purchasable instrument available from Bertin’s House of Curiosities in Fontaine
  • Nod-Krai inspired layout for the Serenitea Pot
  • Envisaged Echoes for Ayaka and Ayato
  • A Nod-Krai inspired card table and card back for Genius Invokation TCG
  • More TCG players in Nod-Krai to challenge
  • New TCG cards added, including Ineffa and Mika
  • Lunar reactions added to TCG

Miliastra Wonderland

Here’s what version 6.4 added to Miliastra Wonderland in Genshin Impact:

  • New outfits
  • A new lobby design
  • Voice chat added, with gameplay modes built around it
  • Raiment Collection event with free outfit as a reward
  • Starlight Voyage event, which includes the chance obtain Prismatic Crystals
  • Primogem rewards for playing one Popular Wonderland stage while wearing a Set or Try-On Cape from the current season
