God of War Laufey has locked down an official release date: February 16, 2027. Santa Monica Studio’s Faye-led adventure is thus set to hit the market less than nine months after its initial reveal, with Sony showing enough confidence in God of War Laufey to position it against several other major releases arriving in early 2027.
The next title from the 2018 God of War director Cory Barlog, Laufey was officially announced during the June 2026 PlayStation State of Play. Although Sony showcased the game extensively during the event, it did not provide a release date or even a broad launch window. Several signs nevertheless suggested that Laufey was targeting a near-term debut, and those indications have now proved accurate.
God of War Laufey Is One of 2027’s First Big PS5 Exclusives
Sony announced the February 16 release date during the “Forging God of War’s Next Heroes” panel at San Diego Comic-Con on July 24, then shared the news through its official social media channels. God of War Laufey will therefore launch as one of the first major PlayStation 5 exclusives of 2027.
