Xbox has revealed Artificial Detective, a sci-fi detective thriller set in a brand-new, futuristic world. The game is one of many new titles expected to launch on modern Xbox consoles in 2027, though a more specific release date hasn’t been revealed yet.

Artificial Detective Is a Sci-Fi Detective Title Crafted by Industry Veterans
Xbox has officially revealed the incredibly gorgeous, neo-noir sci-fi game Artificial Detective. Shown during Xbox’s March 2026 Partner Preview, Artificial Detective is the debut title from Vivix, a new indie studio founded by a host of video game veterans. Vivix’s team is composed of developers who have worked on various high-profile titles at other studios, including games like Control, Dead Space, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The indie studio also employs veterans from the popular animated Netflix series Love, Death & Robots, which may help explain Artificial Detective‘s impressive visuals. Along with Microsoft’s Xbox Series X/S, the game’s debut trailer also confirms it will release on PC.

Set in a futuristic dystopia and centered around a city known as Conglomerate North, Artificial Detective stars AD 2846, a robotic detective who is awakened to find the city full of rogue machines. AD is devoid of his memories, apart from the fact that he once had a human detective as his partner. Now, every human seems to have disappeared, aside from one young girl called Mowgli, who turns out to be a tech prodigy. AD, Mowgli, and their robotic canine companion named D.A.W.G. (Dedicated Artificial Weaponized Guard) must work together to discover what’s happened to Conglomerate North and why the machines have gone hostile.
Although details are scarce, Artificial Detective puts an emphasis on both action and survival as gameplay elements as players progress through the city. AD must utilize the abilities and skills of his companions to traverse the dangerous environment, exploring the unknown and uncovering the city’s many secrets. The three companions will join forces in their flying streetcar, used as both a base of operations and a means of transportation, as they venture along their journey. The game’s trailer shows a variety of combat techniques to make use of in this quest. D.A.W.G. can be seen using built-in tech to stun enemies for sneak attacks, while also attacking foes head-on by biting them.
