After KPop Demon Hunters’ runaway success and its trio of k-pop divas appearing on every late night show and awards ceremony to perform “Golden,” a concert tour seemed like the logical next step for Netflix’s animated musical. Well, it might not be a pipe dream for much longer, as Bloomberg reports that Netflix is in talks to produce a global concert series based on the film.
According to Bloomberg’s sources, Netflix is currently negotiating with concert promoters to stage an arena concert tour in venues that hold 10,000 to 20,0000 fans. At the moment, plans have not been solidified and the entire thing could fall through if Netflix decides to scrap the plan to save cash or some of the creative ideas don’t work out. Apparently Netflix has been approached by promoters offering “tens of millions of dollars in upfront guarantees,” but no deal has been signed.
One major part of the concert that remains up in the air is just what the show would look like. Most fans would likely want to see vocalists Ejae, Audrey Nana, and Rei Ami perform songs from the film live, but Bloomberg’s sources say Netflix is also considering some kind of virtual set up such as holograms of the movie’s main trio. For now, it seems “unlikely” that the actual performers would be at every stop, though talent agency WME is apparently floating around a tour featuring all three singers, but it might not be under the KPop Demon Hunters umbrella.
Bloomberg’s sources say Netflix is hoping to get this show off the ground for 2027, and if that’s the case, those details will likely be hammered out in the coming months. Hopefully it all comes together. I would love to see the girls perform live, but I’d also be interested in a virtual show as an alternative if it included some kind of narrative element that played off the hologram performers.
