Last Chance to Get This Super Rare Pokemon in Pokemon GO Before It’s Gone Forever

Last Chance to Get This Super Rare Pokemon in Pokemon GO Before It’s Gone Forever

Pokemon GO players have a very short time to make sure they get a unique, super rare Pokemon before it’s gone forever on August 1. Pokemon GO has seen plenty of events this summer, as the game celebrated its 10th anniversary, while the franchise overall turned 30 on Pokemon Day 2026, February 27. Between the hyped release of Pokemon GO‘s Mega Mewtwo X and Y and Mewtwo’s increased accessibility, July has been a huge month for the game. However, fans can still catch one of the rarest Pokemon in the game, but they have to act fast.

Pokemon GO‘s Professor Willow Pikachu was also released this July, giving players a very short time to get the critter. Some Raids are still available for this costume-wearing version of Pikachu, but they end at 8 pm local time alongside the themed Timed Research. Fans who missed the event will likely have another go at it next year, as it’s tied to Professor Willow’s birthday. Yet another pressing deadline is upon fans, though, as the exclusive 10th anniversary Gimmighoul will leave the game forever on August 1.

Pokemon GO Players Aren’t Happy With 9th Anniversary Pokemon

Pokemon GO players share their disappointment about the debut of a costumed Pokemon, which stars in the latest 9th anniversary event.

On July 4, Pokemon GO launched its anniversary event and special 10-year Gimmighoul for fans to catch. This event is relatively similar to last year’s 9th anniversary, though the Gimmighoul available in 2026 has a 10 on the coin it bears on its back. This unique Gimmighoul will be available throughout the entire month, but it’s only four more days before it vanishes. The 9th anniversary Gimmighoul from 2025 never returned, and that is bound to happen with the 10th anniversary Gimmighoul.

Fans can get shiny Gimmighoul in Pokemon GO during this event if they’re lucky, and a Special Background version is also available. Combining the two will net the rarest version of Gimmighoul available in this event, and seeing its exclusive role, it’s likely to become one of the most sought-after critters in the game. Pokemon GO players can get this special Pokemon via Coin Bags and Golden Lure Modules, as well as the GO Pass, until July 31. It’s worth noting that the Gimmighoul from Golden Lure Modules are much harder to catch than those from Coin Bags.

There is also a Timed Research that players can access for $1.99 for a guaranteed Gimmighoul encounter. For those looking forward to the future, Pokemon GO is adding Mega Starmie in August 2026 with another timed event. The event will run on August 22 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM local time, giving players an increased chance of a shiny Starmie from Super Mega Raids and guaranteeing a Mega Level 1 Starmie. The event will include six free Raid passes, too.

On top of that, Pokemon GO‘s Ultra Unlock: Water Festival in August will add three new Pokemon for the first time. These are Arrokuda, Barraskewda, and Cramorant — all Gen 8 Water-type Pokemon that were never added before. Those who have already secured their 10th anniversary Gimmighoul still have time to get a shiny, and those who haven’t should start now. Either way, even more rare Pokemon are coming in August.
