Following the launch of the new Raid for the Legends multiplayer mode in Ghost of Yotei, Sucker Punch drops a surprising bit of news about future updates to this side of the game. Since it launched back in October 2025, Ghost of Yotei has already seen plenty of success, with Sucker Punch continuing to drive the experience forward through new updates and smaller content additions for players to enjoy as they explore the Hokkaido region of Japan.
As players continue to wait for potential news of DLC, Sucker Punch delivered its anticipated Ghost of Yotei Legends multiplayer experience, a free-to-play set of modes that add two and four player cooperative modes. Fans will likely remember a similar experience to Ghost of Tsushima, though the updated mode in this version features narrative-driven missions pitting players against demonic versions of the Yotei Six enemies. There’s also the classic Survival mode where 4 players work together to overcome increasingly difficult waves of enemies over 4 unique maps. However, the true endgame experience recently launched, bringing a new Raid mission for players to check out.

Ghost of Yotei Legends Releases Its Last Major Update
Following the launch of the Raid for Ghost of Yotei Legends back in April, Lead Designer Darren Bridges took some time to reflect on the creation experience. Ultimately, the team at Sucker Punch described the mode as a sort of escape room that was actively trying to kill the players. While designed to be a challenging experience, the studio kept in mind that it was ultimately designing it for multiple audiences who may not be able to play it for multiple hours, so it baked in a few enhancements, such as the ability to jump straight back into the boss once players have made it through the puzzles and either run out of time, are struggling, or people need to leave.

While Sucker Punch has enjoyed seeing people play and experience the Raid, including seeing Ghost of Yotei players battle against the Demon Dragon, Bridges ends the blog post by admitting that the Raid update was the “last major planned update for Legends” and that it ultimately wraps up the story of the Yotei Six in that mode. While it sounds like Sucker Punch may be done with major additions, the scope of that comment isn’t really known. It’s possible that smaller patches could still arrive, to help balance or fix issues, but reading the comment from Bridges does make it seem like there won’t be any additional content.
If that really is the case, it’s certainly a bit surprising as Ghost of Tsushima‘s Legends multiplayer mode received plenty of new content well after the mode’s original launch. In fact, Ghost of Tsushima Legends added more maps and game modes like Rivals the following year after the game’s launch and even alongside the Iki Island and Director’s Cut launches.

It’s possible Sucker Punch doesn’t consider maps as a “major update”, but it’s not entirely clear what this means going forward. Either way, players are expecting some sort of DLC similar to the Iki Island expansion that eventually came to Ghost of Tsushima. It’s possible that new content could launch alongside an expansion like that, but for now, fans will have to continue waiting for a potential official reveal from Sucker Punch or Sony.
