PlayStation has officially delayed the release of its Pulse Elevate wireless speakers, which were scheduled to ship on November 12. First announced during September 2025’s State of Play, PlayStation opened pre-orders for the speaker a year later, in September 2026, for $219.99.

The Pulse Elevate is the first wireless speaker developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It is designed to work with PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and PlayStation Portal, as well as smartphones, PCs, and Macs. Sony advertised it as an “immersive, next-level gaming audio experience,” adding it to its lineup of audio accessories alongside the Pulse Elite wireless headset and Pulse Explore wireless earbuds. However, fans will have to wait longer to get their hands on it.

Sony Spots ‘Production Issue’ During Pulse Elevate Testing

On November 6, PlayStation published an update on its blog, stating, “As part of our ongoing quality testing of Pulse Elevate speakers, we have identified a production issue with the product and have made the decision to delay the launch.” Sony explained that the additional time will allow the development team to ensure the speakers meet users’ quality expectations. The company also apologized to fans for the delay, adding, “We look forward to bringing Pulse Elevate to players soon.” However, Sony did not provide a new release date for the anticipated Pulse Elevate speakers.

Pulse Elevate’s official PlayStation Store listing says, “Due to high demand, there is a limit of 1 per order,” suggesting that the product has attracted considerable interest even before its release. However, the speakers are currently unavailable in the store. And weirdly enough, the listing still shows a November 13 release date. That said, the pre-launch process has not been entirely smooth either. Sony previously said its wireless speakers would include an adjustable sidetone volume setting, but the company later removed the feature from the product description.

The Pulse Elevate delay is not the first of its kind in recent months. Earlier, PlayStation also indefinitely delayed its FlexStrike wireless fight stick. At the time, Sony said, “Due to unexpected production delays, FlexStrike wireless fight stick will launch at a later date.” Like the speakers, the $199.99 fighting stick has no confirmed release date as of this writing, despite initially being set to launch on August 6, 2026.

Sony hasn’t been entirely clear about the reasons behind these recent delays. However, production issues appear to be becoming a major problem for manufacturers, with the delayed PlayStation accessories serving as just one example. Nintendo is reportedly facing production problems with its Switch 2 consoles, while Steam is dealing with similar issues affecting its lineup of peripherals. These recurring problems are also influencing consumer decisions, making pre-orders an increasingly risky choice for buyers.
