While new content for Red Dead Online has been few and far between, the game still offers plenty to entice fans back into its world. The game continues to run regular events granting players bonuses for completing different types of tasks in the game, like Red Dead Online‘s Naturalist event asking players to both track and kill a variety of rare animals. The Featured Series events put the spotlight on different types of missions and challenges in Red Dead Online, often granting bonus rewards for playing. Now, Red Dead Online is putting the spotlight on Bounty Hunters, with some big bonuses available for tracking down wanted targets.

Red Dead Online‘s litany of new Bounty Hunter bonuses will provide some big benefits beyond the extra cash and XP. Red Dead Online is rolling out discounts on a multitude of useful weapons and items for bounty hunting, including 50% off Bolas, Throwing Knives, and Repeaters. Players looking to pick up a new horse in the game will also be able to obtain a Breton Horse for a similar markdown, with the horses available for half-price for the duration of the event. Rockstar is also bringing some limited-time cosmetics to the game as part of the event, including community-inspired outfits and special anniversary clothing.
Rockstar has significantly winded down Red Dead Online‘s support in recent years. Rockstar continued to support the game for three years after its release, confirming in 2022 that there would be no further major additions to the game. Despite that claim, the company launched the Strange Tales of the West expansion in July 2025, adding multiple paranormal missions with players encountering robots, a swamp monster, and even zombies.
The winding down of Red Dead Online comes as Rockstar Games is gearing up for its next big release in the studio’s flagship franchise. Rockstar will officially launch Grand Theft Auto 6 on November 19, with the game bringing fans back to Vice City for the first time since 2006’s GTA: Vice City Stories. The game has already seen massive excitement from fans and critics alike, winning “Most Anticipated Game” two years in a row at The Game Awards and GTA 6 earning more than $1 billion in revenue within an hour of pre-orders going live. Rockstar looks primed to turn the gaming world on its head with GTA 6, while Red Dead fans wait for more from the franchise.
