New Xbox Controller With Anti-Stick Drift Officially Revealed

Xbox gamers in the market for a new controller have a fresh $69.99 option to consider in the form of GameSir’s Tarantula Pro. While Xbox consoles sometimes get mixed reactions, few have complaints about the company’s controllers from a design standpoint. Oftentimes the default option for PC gamers that want to use a controller instead of mouse and keyboard, Xbox controllers have been widely praised for their comfort and design, which has nearly been perfected at this point.

However, there is one big problem that the official Xbox controllers from Microsoft have faced this generation, and that is stick drift. Speaking from personal experience, I’ve gone through around five Xbox controllers because they continuously succumb to stick drift or other issues, and I am certainly not alone in that regard. It may take until the next console generation for Xbox controllers to get a significant-enough revision to finally put stick drift out to pasture, but in the meantime, third-party companies are stepping up to tackle the issue with their own controllers.

New Xbox Controller With Special Feature Has Been Leaked

A reputable insider shares details on some of Xbox’s upcoming plans, including a new controller with a special feature that could be released soon.

GameSir has pulled the curtain back on the Tarantula Pro for Xbox, which features a slick white-and-grey color scheme and thumbstick placement more akin to the PS5 DualSense controller than typical Xbox controllers. Boasting “1000Hz Anti-Drift TMR sticks,” the wired controller will hopefully avoid running into the stick drift issues that plague many standard Xbox controllers. The GameSir Tarantula Pro for Xbox is available for pre-order right now for $69.99, and is expected to ship this June.

The Tarantula Pro for Xbox wasn’t the only new controller that GameSir revealed. While the Tarantula Pro can be used on PC like other Xbox controllers, GameSir also pulled the curtain back on two PC-specific controllers it has in the works. There’s the Tarantula 8K PC controller, which is built specifically with esports in mind, and then the Tarantula Ultra 8K PC controller, which is the top-of-the-line device. The former will cost $69.99, the same as the Xbox controller, and is also expected to ship this June. The latter has yet to be fully detailed, so PC gamers will have to wait for more information on that front.

Those that prefer Xbox controllers made by Microsoft itself should note that the company regularly releases new variants of its standard Xbox Series X/S controllers. New colors are released all the time, and there are various versions of the Elite controller available as well.

There wasn’t that dramatic of a change in the jump from Xbox One to Xbox Series X/S when it comes to Xbox controllers, but it will be interesting to see what the next-generation brings to the table. Xbox has already confirmed that its Project Helix console is in active development, with the next-gen system expected to drop at some point in 2027. Project Helix’s design, controllers, and other features are being kept secret for now, but we do know that the console will allow gamers to play PC games on digital storefronts like Steam and the Epic Games Store.
