Nintendo Switch Online Subscribers Have New Freebies to Claim

Nintendo Switch Online Subscribers Have New Freebies to Claim

Nintendo Switch Online subscribers can now claim free profile icons based on Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream. Nintendo Switch systems have a number of different profile icons to choose from, covering some of the most important characters from franchises like Pokemon, Splatoon, and Metroid. However, additional icons are regularly added based on new games, which can only be obtained by Nintendo Switch Online subscribers.

Pokemon: Pokopia profile icons were added to Nintendo Switch Online last month. In the weeks since, subscribers have been treated to a number of other limited-time options, including designs based on Animal Crossing, Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2, Kirby’s Dream Land, and Kirby and the Amazing Mirror. Some of these icons have additional requirements before they can be claimed, such as booting up a specific game. There are even some icons inspired by Switch 2’s GameChat, which can only be claimed if the user has finished setting up the feature.

There Could Be a Problem Bringing Animal Crossing to Nintendo Switch Online

Fans hoping to see the original Animal Crossing released on Switch 2 through the GameCube Nintendo Classics app might be out of luck.

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream’s New NSO Freebies

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is available now on Nintendo Switch, and fans can celebrate with some new profile icons. These icons are exclusively available to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers and can be claimed by using Platinum Points. The icons themselves cost 10 points each, and frames and backgrounds are available for 5 points. The first wave of profile icons is available now and can be claimed through April 22 at 5:59 p.m. PT. New waves based on the game will be released weekly and will be available through May 13.

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is a unique and quirky game, and the new profile icons certainly reflect that fact. Half of the icons available in the first wave focus on various types of speech bubbles. That’s odd enough, but the other half are actual images of food items, including carbonara, sushi, canele, tacos, and a cracker. Those icons are sure to befuddle any users who aren’t familiar with the game, and it will be interesting to see if fans embrace these options.

These Nintendo Switch Online freebies are a way to promote new and upcoming games. After the Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream icons rotate out, there’s a good chance designs will be added based on Yoshi and the Mysterious Book. That game is set to be released on May 21 on Nintendo Switch 2, and it’s the next major first-party game on the way. Nintendo doesn’t currently have any games announced for June, but Rhythm Heaven Groove is coming out on July 2; Switch Online subscribers can likely expect profile icons for that particular game throughout the summer.

One of the main draws of Nintendo Switch Online is the ability to play games like Mario Kart World and Pokemon Legends: Z-A against other people, but the service includes several other benefits. The biggest perk for subscribers is the ability to download Nintendo Classics apps based on older systems like the GameCube. Three NES games were added to Nintendo Switch Online last week, including Pac-Man, Mendel Palace, and The Tower of Druaga.
