Ocarina of Time Blurb Revealing Remake Details

Days after its official reveal, Nintendo removed some key descriptors for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake from the Nintendo eShop. However, Nintendo’s efforts to keep some elements of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time a surprise did not go as planned, as fans quickly shared the words that Nintendo removed.

Following weeks of speculation and leaks across social media, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was officially revealed during the June 9 Nintendo Direct broadcast. The Ocarina of Time remake’s first trailer did not show off any gameplay footage, as it was a callback to the game’s original introduction. Images of the Great Deku Tree and the Kokiri Forest were seen on a tapestry, and the trailer ended with a look at Link sleeping as an image of the Triforce glowed on his left hand. Though The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will launch exclusively on Switch 2 later this year, the upcoming remake left fans with several questions.

Nintendo Removes Most Ocarina of Time Remake Descriptors

While it’s a foregone conclusion that the Ocarina of Time remake will feature updated graphics, Nintendo silently removed most of its previous words concerning the upcoming project. As of this writing, the Nintendo Store listing for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time stated that, “The Nintendo 64 classic returns for a new generation in 2026, reborn exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2!” Before Nintendo made the change, Zelda fans on social media said that the Ocarina of Time store page previously stated, “The N64 classic reborn as a full remake for Nintendo Switch 2. Experience Ocarina of Time with stunning visuals, updated designs, and timeless gameplay.”

A thread on the Gaming Leaks and Rumors subreddit claimed that the original descriptors were found by searching for “Ocarina of Time remake website us” and similar terms on Google and other search engines. It is currently unclear why Nintendo altered the Ocarina of Time store page to exclude any mention of the game’s visuals or gameplay. The only other details listed about the Ocarina of Time remake are the languages that the game will support in the Americas, along with a pending rating from the ESRB. Given that Ocarina of Time was previously ported to Nintendo 3DS systems in June 2011 with updated graphics and animations, it is also unclear if the upcoming Switch 2 port will be a similar project to the 3DS port or if it will be a full-on remake with additional features.

Along with the Ocarina of Time remake, the anticipated movie adaptation of The Legend of Zelda is in post-production. The movie is directed by Wes Ball, with Nintendo executive Shigeru Miyamoto aiding in production. Though both projects are now out in the open, it is currently unclear when Nintendo will share more information concerning the immediate future of the Zelda franchise.

However, Ocarina of Time is not the only N64-era remake that Nintendo will release this year. Star Fox, a remake of 1997’s Star Fox 64, will launch on Switch 2 starting June 25. The upcoming title will include updated character designs and extended cutscenes. A free demo of Star Fox is now available for Switch 2 players to enjoy.
