One Horadric Cube Transfiguration Has Broken the Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred Meta

A new Lord of Hatred feature has upended the Diablo 4 meta, and most players will want to grind for this addition to their build. The addition of the Horadric Cube in Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred has unlocked the potential to create some ridiculously powerful pieces of gear. One of the ways this can be accomplished is through the Transfiguration feature, which can result in a new meta-defining affix that can help players clear Torment 12 with ease.

Although the Horadric Cube can be used for a variety of gear upgrades, such as adding or rerolling affixes, Transfiguration might be the Cube’s most powerful feature. Much like the Sanctification mechanic from Diablo 4 Season 11, Transfiguration allows players to imprint a bonus affix on an item, but at the high risk of making it unmodifiable. This makes Transfiguration a high-risk/high-reward process that should be saved for after a piece of gear is fully upgraded and has all necessary gems slotted into it.

Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred’s New Mythic Unique Makes Another One Virtually Useless

The addition of a new Mythic Unique in Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred has sunk the utility of another, to the point where it’s almost never worth using.

Diablo 4 Players Will Want the Gem Strength Transfiguration on Their Weapons

One of the best possible affixes that can be added to an item when undergoing Transfiguration in Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred is Gem Strength. This affix adds 150-200% power to the Gems socketed on that piece of Diablo 4 gear, boosting their effects further. Since the ability to add a Legendary affix through Transfiguration using a Kullean Tuning Prism is limited to Amulets in Diablo 4, the best option for Gem Strength Transfigurations is usually the player’s weapons.

There are seven different types of gems in Diablo 4, and each has its own uses depending on which type of gear it is slotted into. Weapons tend to add an increase to a particular damage type, jewelry tends to add resistance to a damage type or another defensive bonus, and armor tends to add an increase to different stats. There are also different gem upgrades in Diablo 4 that increase the potency of the bonuses.

Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred adds two new tiers of gems that massively boost the bonuses that they provide once socketed in a piece of gear: Horadric and Flawless Horadric Gems. Additionally, Lord of Hatred changes weapon-socketed gems to have a multiplicative damage-increasing effect. As a result, having two Flawless Horadric Diamonds socketed into a weapon can make the damage output of a given build reach incredible levels. This output can be pushed even further with the Gem Strength Transfiguration, making it essentially a universal chase affix in Diablo 4‘s endgame.

Crafting a Flawless Horadric Gem can be insanely expensive, requiring Horadric Gems, each of which needs 5,000,000 Gem fragments.

How to Get Gem Strength Using Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred’s Horadric Cube

Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to guarantee that Transfiguration will result in the addition of the Gem Strength affix in the Horadric Cube. Transfiguration requires one Legendary, Unique, or Mythic Diablo 4 item along with Volatile Primordial Dust. An Entropic Tuning Prism is another optional material that can be used in this recipe, and it allows players to narrow down the types of affixes that may be added. However, players who want the Gem Strength affix should avoid using an Entropic Tuning Prism since it removes the possibility for this affix to drop, instead opting to complete the recipe without any Tuning Prism added in.
